How should west respond to Russian invasion of Ukraine?

Elensky started to use bullet-proof glass during his "concerts"
And former 35 year old defense is under criminal investigation for all kind of crap which he is no doubt guilty off. Of course that is not the reason why he was dismissed.
So why such a hero was dismissed, why would anybody do such a thing to a hero behind drone campaign against ..... WildBerries

As usual, Arbos gets it wrong, but he does not really follow the news very carefully when it concerns Ukrainian politics.

Former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov was dismissed because of irreconcilable differences with Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky. Basically, Syrsky, who has the support of most generals, opposed many of the changes that Fedorov was proposing in his effort to modernize warfare. Fedorov is popular among many because those changes have led to some of the more spectacular successes in drone warfare, especially regarding strikes on military targets deep inside Russia. Neither man would communicate with each other without Zelensky getting constantly involved. So Zelensky decided to stick with Syrsky and failed to renew Fedorov's appointment as Defense Minister, even though Fedorov is still one of his closest advisors. Zelensky is still deciding whether or not to reinstate Fedorov and fire Syrsky. Either that, or find some way to get both men to work together.

Arbos may not be able to read the Kyiv Post, but...

Shame that 2 obviously capable people just could not get on together. The perils of human interactions

Actually, "Cheato" is a shortened form of "Cheato Benito", which is one of the many pejorative nicknames for Donald Trump in social media. He is called that because of his long history of unlawful behavior and the first name of former Italian fascist dictator Benito Mussolini. Both components of the nickname are well-earned.
Thanks for an excellent explanation. "Cheato" is not satisfied with what he has achieved till now, he is trying to do even better.

Another matter: I am disappointed that there have been so many strikes in these wars but the number of deaths have not been as high. I would not like to fire a bomb if it does not kill at least 50 people.

And yet accepted (by Ukraine) body exchange ratio is 30 to 1 in favor of Russia.
That is 30 dead ukrainin soldiers per 1 russian dead soldier.
CIA director is a liar, this is in his job description.

The mere fact that Defense minister was sacked should give you a clue that not everything is good in Ukraine. In fact everything is bad there for them.

Russia is not US, we select targets carefully and don't strike girl's schools.
And ukrainian military are not idiots anymore. In the past ukro-wehrmacht had an old soviet habit of gathering for celebrations...... and die from a single missile in large numbers. Not anymore, they finally learned their lesson.
US on the other hand does hit civilian targets in order to lift morale of the ukro-nazis. There is no other way.

I think you have it backwards; More people are killed per bomb now than was the case in the past.

During the Blitz in WWII, the British government estimated that there were about 50 casualties, of whom about a third were killed and the rest injured, per ton of bombs dropped by the Luftwaffe.

That roughly translates to 15 bombs dropped per death.

Of course there were occasional bombs that killed dozens of people; But there were far more that killed nobody at all.

Modern guided ordnance is far more effective at killing, but even so I would be surprised if the average is as many as one fatality per bomb or missile.

People tend to get warning of incoming air raids, and to take cover when that warning is sounded.

To get really high casualties per bomb requires a sneak attack on a crowded location; Terrorist truck or car bombs are far more deadly in that regard than aerial bombing can ever be.

I wonder if Syrsky just has too much power within the military for Zelensky to side with Fedorov.
From the outside looking in, it really looks like Zelensky bet on the wrong horse here.

That is not good enough. What to talk of missiles, even drones cost millions of USD.

Drone TypeCost Range
Entry-Level Consumer Drones$500 - $2,000
Mid-Level Military Drones$2,000 - $10,000
High-End Military Drones$50,000 and above
Specialized Military DronesA few thousand to tens of millions of dollars

ha ha ha. That's just an absurd figure. Do you really believe that. The estimates that I hear that a million Russian soldiers are dead. That would mean 30 million Ukrainians? Come on, use some common sense. Neither side has an incentive to say the truth here. But Russian soldiers are crossing land and attacking into fortified Ukrainian defensive positions. There is no doubt that more Russians are dying in these frontal attacks than Ukrainians. The people feeding you the 30:1 ratio are pulling your chain. Quit being so gullible!

Anyone in Russia who uses international media is only allowed to do so because they are favorable to the Russian government. It's propaganda.

You are the same.

I think that it was a difficult call for Zelensky. Fedorov is only 35 years old, and his main expertise is in asymmetric and drone warfare. He does not really have the respect of the military brass, because he doesn't have their experience. While many of the reforms that Fedorov wants may seem great to him, they don't necessarily make as much sense to Ukrainian officers and generals. There is still a war going on at the front inside of Ukraine.

Fedorov is popular with the troops, because his vision is fighting Russia primarily with robots and teleoperated machines, making their jobs less likely to get them killed. But he isn't popular with those who need troops to retake Ukrainian territory. Syrsky is less popular and even has the nickname "Butcher" because of his alleged Soviet-like willingness to sacrifice troops for battleground gains. So Zelensky ended up betting on the less popular horse, but not necessarily the one less suited to run a war. That's why he is saying publicly that he is willing to dump Syrsky and bring back Fedorov, but he needs a general that can get along with Fedorov.
