California Doing California Things

Newsom and his shrill wife are corrupt as fuck

When Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Baby2Baby would manufacture and distribute millions of free California co-branded diapers to every new parent, he claimed the deal "went through a competitive bidding process."State records reveal it didn't. California's official contract database lists the $6.2 million Baby2Baby deal as "NON-COMPETITIVELY BID." Baby2Baby is not alone.
CBS California Investigates found more than two dozen similar exemptions in California's new state budget totaling more than $1 billion in appropriations for programs ranging from a $253 million opioid-response fund to suicide-crisis grants to a $12.9 million prison re-entry program. Two out of three of the exemptions never expire. Because these deals are also exempt from state contracting oversight, they are largely hidden from public view and don't appear in California's public database of no-bid contracts. Had the governor not publicly announced the Baby2Baby contract, prompting questions about the nonprofit's ties to Newsom and his wife, the "non-competitively bid" contract may never have been discovered.

'Diapergate" lol.

Yeah. This one doesn't pass the smell test.

'Diapergate" lol.
What are you LOL-ing about? It's your dumbass party trying to manufacture an outrageous scandal over nothing.

Useless air-suckers, as per usual. The Republican faux outrage machine has have NO plan to help young California families, but they're trying to rip up the state's plan because they think it is somehow the personal handiwork of a governor they hate. Morons, the lot of them. I'm glad they are so rarely in power here.

I take this one as seriously as the pants-shitting the conservatives did when Obama saluted the marine with a coffee cup in his hand and when he wore a tan suit.

I'm laughing at CBS using "Diapergate in their URL for the article; "cbsnews.com/news/california-diapergate-non-competitive-exemptions-buried-in-budget

Dang bro, chill out.

It's your dumbass party trying to manufacture an outrageous scandal over nothing.

CBS News is a political party? And they are my party? Huh?

Are you still trying to convince everyone you aren't a Republican stooge? I think it's hilarious that your political takes are so bad that even you're embarassed by them. But you, instead of maintaining an exhausting and unconvincing ruse, you could just stop worshiping despicable, racist, daytime TV celebrities and tabloid journalists, and instead join the world of responsible, civic-minded adults. Admission is free, you just have to grow up a little and learn to take on a smidgen of responsibility for your choices and actions.

I have told you numerous times, I am not a republican, stooge or otherwise. I have no party affiliation. Are you saying there is nothing fishy going on with Newsom and his wife and the award of this contract? CBS seems to think there is? Are they Republican stooges?

You have a cult like loyalty to Newsom.

I think it's hilarious that your political takes are so bad that even you're embarassed by them.

Nope, not embarrassed at shining a light on the shit that goes on in California by your man Newsom and the democrats.

But you, instead of maintaining an exhausting and unconvincing ruse, you could just stop worshiping despicable, racist, daytime TV celebrities and tabloid journalists,

What are you on about now? Who am I worshipping?

and instead join the world of responsible, civic-minded adults.

Already a fully paid up member.

And what choices and actions would they be?

What are you on about now? Who am I worshipping?
Donald John Trump.

Already a fully paid up member.
You have admitted many times over that your sole contributions to society are 1.) whining about stuff you don't like, and 2.) paying tax. You have many objections to many things, but offer no solutions to any of them, and expect others to do all the work of social repair. Like all Republicans, you have the mindset of a greedy child who has gotten into its parent's wallet and is now is mad that there isn't enough in there.

lol, I don't worship Donald John Trump. You just make things up. Silly goose.

lol. Anyone that complains about anything is a republican in your mind.

They’re phenomenally good, especially with marshmallows.
Entire reason I detest sweet potatoes/yams.
You detest them because they’re phenomenally good? Are you jealous?
There should be a law against combining certain food groups, like vegetables with sweets. Would you pour chocolate sauce on an ear of corn and eat it?

Yams rock. Just sayin’
 My maternal gramma used to make yams with marshmallows on top for Thanksgiving dinner. I hated them.
WHY? They’re phenomenally good, especially with marshmallows.
Entire reason I detest sweet potatoes/yams.
I love sweet potato/yams. What I detest is adding sugar to yummy veggies.
Baked, like a white potato in the skin, dribbled with a little butter... Yum!
I have made candied yams, full of molasses and honey, covered with marshmallows, for family dinners. Pan always comes back empty. But I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole.
I also prefer steamed brussel sprouts over chocolate, my tastes are not the norm.

You guys are weird.

I am overly sensitive to bitter tastes and I cannot help but always be overwhelmed by bitter in coffee, Brussels sprouts and IPAs no matter how well prepared/great quality, etc.

I wish it was not so but!

I hate sweet on my vegetables!

I am somewhat addicted to chocolate, the darker the better. Apparently chocolate overrides my over-sensitive bitter tastebuds.

NYT has a wonderful recipe for Chocolate Coffee Whiskey cake. If you use a private browser you can get around the paywall.

The recipe also includes cloves Abd black pepper. Sounds awful, right? Especially if you hate coffee and whiskey like I do.

It is not. It is truly delicious.

Brussels sprouts done right are a favorite of mine. Halved and roasted, with Parmesan melted over them … I have a sweet tooth, but slso a bitter tooth!

I've had some versions of elotes that you would definitely not like. I can't recall chocolate dipped ones exactly, but sweets? Por cierto. The trick is to also make it spicy as hell.

Mexico is host to one of the world's great cuisines. One can with perfect validity criticize the United Mexican States for a great many troubles, foibles, and social injustices, but none of them are in the kitchen. The rich, the poor, the farmer, the businessman, the fisherman, they all dine like kings.
