How should west respond to Russian invasion of Ukraine?

I think that it was a difficult call for Zelensky. Fedorov is only 35 years old, and his main expertise is in asymmetric and drone warfare.
His expertise is PR. The guy's educations is .... sociology.

Actually, Mykhailo Fedorov is primarily a successful young politician with some brilliant ideas on how to use modern technologies like smartphones and drones to conduct very effective asymmetric warfare. But that was just part of a larger strategy he developed called Air Land Economy--defending the sky, deterrence on the ground, and undermining the enemy's economy. It has worked extremely well against the larger, more rigidly structured Russian military machine.

Like Zelensky, Fedorov had a university education, but he did not go on to build a career in his academic major. In Zelensky's case, he studied law, but he built an early career as a comic entertainer. That gave him the skills along with his understanding of the law to gain public office and go on to become one of the world's most successful national leaders at a time when his country faced an extremely aggressive invasion from its neighbor. Fedorov is another young politician who rose to become an effective politician on his own natural talent and merit. He actually impressed Elon Musk enough to convince him to stop allowing Russia to use his satellite network to support the invasion of Ukrainian territory.

So we should show him.

Laura Loomer, an ally of US President Donald Trump and a far-right political activist, said she visited Ukraine and apologized for her previous pro-Kremlin rhetoric.

In her X update on Monday, Loomer said she had been “propagandized by Russian media.”

“I was living in a media echo chamber and I was propagandized by Russian media on social media to believe those things,” she wrote.

“So I came to Ukraine to see the country for myself. I am going to try to find evidence for the propaganda I’ve been fed, and if I don’t find it, I will let everyone know so they too can come to see the light.”
“I realized Ukraine and @ZelenskyyUa aren’t the jihadi apologists… but Russia and Putin are!” she added.

Loomer’s latest updates were also mocked by Margarita Simonyan, the editor of Russia Today (RT), who pointed out that Loomer used to write columns for the Russian paper.

Loomer responded by saying she did so in 2021 but ultimately changed her mind about Russia as the country “doesn’t do anything positive for America.”

Walking back on Nazi claims

Loomer had previously amplified claims of Nazism in Ukraine.

In an update dated Sept. 6, 2023, Loomer claimed that former US President Joe Biden was “funding Nazi death squads in Ukraine with US taxpayer dollars.”

Loomer on Monday said she changed her mind by witnessing Russia’s war crimes in Ukraine, including the aftermath of the Bucha massacre, and seeing photos of tortured Ukrainian prisoners of war (POWs).

“On day one, I’ve already seen photos of dead priests in Bucha murdered by Russia and I saw the mass grave where the bodies of murdered Christians were placed after Russia sent forces from Chechnya to massacre innocent people,” she wrote.

Anti-Islam has been a central part of Loomer’s conspiracy theories.

She then added that she was shown photos of Ukrainian POWs with “swastikas engraved into their forehead by Russians.”

“I spoke with officials who rescue POWs and they showed me photos of Ukrainian POWs who had swastikas engraved into their forehead by Russians,” she wrote. “Who are the Nazis? I was lied to for years.”

It is hard for me to get excited about Laura Loomer's sudden revelations about Russian propaganda. She was enough of a lunatic to toe that line for years, so I'm not sure that her sudden conversion to Ukraine's cause is going to redeem her soul. Like Trump, she may just be extremely susceptible to whatever the last person who was nice to her said. Trump himself has been making pro-Ukraine noises lately, and I suspect that she is still just doing whatever she thinks he wants her to do. If Trump suddenly goes into another warm gushy mood over his old pal, Vladimir, she might well jump back aboard that sinking ship.

Oh, I definitely agree. I just like to bust Barbos' balls.

Zelensky gave in to popular demand and removed Oleksandr Syrsky, who had fought Mykhailo Fedorov's modernization policies. He has replace Syrsky with Maj. Gen. Mykhailo Drapatyi, Ukraine's Commander of Joint Forces. Drapatyi, a young 43 years of age, had sided with Fedorov in his disputes with Syrsky. Fedorov apparently will not get his old position as Defense Minister back. Instead, Zelensky has offered Fedorov a new job that is more directly suited to his areas of expertise. Fedorov has openly endorsed Drapatyi now, calling him a "breath of fresh air." so it looks like the crisis is over from the perspective of demonstrators.

This looks like an embarrassing reversal on its face for Zelensky, but I wonder if he hadn't planned it this way as a means of dislodging the unpopular Syrsky from his position. So far, I think, it demonstrates Zelensky's very capable leadership. He has essentially introduced a younger generation of popular leaders in Ukraine--something that Russia would stand well to emulate, were it not for the boneheaded autocrat running his country into the ground with an endless, pointless attempt to revive the corpse of the Russian Empire.

It looks like Zelensky removed Syrsky respectfully. I would think there are the old guard in the military who would not like it done in any other manner. This is the respect Fedorov apparently did not have time for, considering the situation too urgent to bother with such. And here, Zelensky turns around and tells Fedorov, your country still needs you. Syrsky's outgoing comments are typical and expected of a military man of this age. He knows the importance of unit cohesion and value of teamwork within the military.
Syrsky via Militarnyi said:
Ukraine will survive not because it has irreplaceable people, but because it has an army, institutions and millions of people who do their job.
This is Russia's enemy, people giving 100% in defense of their nation and leaders who deserve respect. This is what Putin's Russia will never have.

And this is the real reason why Russia wants to destroy Ukraine. They can't tolerate a successful democratic (with faults) country on their border.

Barbos

Tell Vlad the key to victory is to keep sending Russian men to the front to die until Ukraine gives up.

And this is the real reason why Russia wants to destroy Ukraine. They can't tolerate a successful democratic (with faults) country on their border.
The reason because I want to destroy "Ukraine" is because they are scum.

Now I understand why Putin invaded. He must be a real inspiration to his people.

ha ha ha. That's just an absurd figure. Do you really believe that.
That figure is accepted by Kiev regime.
You really are clueless.

Yea, I think that your source is bullshit. They can't even spell the name of the capital city of Ukraine. You getting your info from Steven Segal again? What is your source for this?
What part of "Kiev regime accepted it" you do not understand?

I didn't say that I don't understand what you said. I understand English very well. I'm questioning your source. Clearly its someone who dosn't know the area well as they can't even spell the capital of Ukraine. Who is your source saying that 30 Ukranians are dying to every Russian soldier?
He don’ need no steenkin sources!
He has AI.
