Brian Berletic's basic argument is simpler than that. He understands that the U.S. is not run by politicians with sincere ideological perspectives but by corporations and banks (the investor class) whose only instinct is to grow profits and markets. The Citizens United decision cemented that trend, which is now a fact of American life. Our country's politicians are bought. Trump's appeal is that he gave the false impression that he was different,. He was not bought, or so he claimed.
Maybe because Brian was born here, he gets this. He understands why we abandoned any pretense of the sort of social safety net that still exists in Europe. He has seen the U.S. turn its back on its own workers so as to allow the rich to grow an ever greater share of wealth, without, of course, paying taxes on that wealth. This is why I believe I live in a fascist country. Government no longer exists except for show. This too, makes the Ukraine conflict so dangerous. Putin is dealing with a country (the U.S.) that is above the rule of law. We are a rogue nation and utterly out of control.
