How should west respond to Russian invasion of Ukraine?

Commentators are not buying shit this Elensky detractor now says

You just don't understand. The Ukrainians have no choice. Their backs are against the wall. There isn't another country that they can flee to. They fight, or the die. If they settle with your country, they are done.

Putin IS a dangerous pathogen trying to spread from Russia to Ukraine and Europe.

At this point I have no doubt Putin in his delusions dreams of controlling Europe.

Russia iss funding the European pro Russian extreme right

So Russia is more and more striking at or near other countries: the border between Ukraine and Poland, Moldova, a Turkish cargo ship, and now two ships in NATO member Bulgaria's economic zone.
Is this truly Putin trying to scare off NATO out of desperation?
While Russia does have some success in drone strikes against Ukraine for now, they do seem to be losing the battle on the ground. Russia's casualty rate is consistently over 1,500 per day and it seems they still cannot field enough new soldiers to take up the slack. Even if they could, it doesn't look like they have the ability to train them.

Then there's the big economic question. How close is Russia from collapsing economically?
Ukraine will hold out. What choice do they have. Russia cannot physically take Ukraine. This has become evident. The Russian economy is collapsing, it's just a matter of when. You know how this goes, slowly then all at once.
Russia is, as we long expected now overly reliant on China. China calls the shots. With China being the only source for many sanctioned goods, it's pay up or do without. So Russia pays up and their deficits balloon while the oil and gas revenue drops.

Here is a summary on the state of Russia's economy with a link to the full report (the date is written in metric)
Endgame: Russia’s war economy hits its limits

Poland joke, seen elsewhere.

A polish farmer is plowing is field one day, and the plow snags on something hard in the dirt. He digs it up and finds a lamp. When brushing the dirt off the lamp, a genie pops out and say, "For freeing me from the lamp, I will grant you three wishes. What is your first wish?"

The farmer thinks for a moment, and then says, "I want Mongol hordes to invade Poland and then go home." So the genie snaps his fingers, and a horde of Mongols comes streaming in from over the horizon. They rampage across the countryside, steal his livestock, and then leave.

The genie says, "What is your second wish?" The farmer says, "I want Mongol hordes to invade Poland and then go home." The genie looks quite puzzled, but a wish is a wish. So he snaps his fingers, and a horde of Mongols comes streaming in from over the horizon. They rampage across the countryside, loot his house, and then leave.

The genie says, "What is your third wish?" The farmer says, "I want Mongol hordes to invade Poland and then go home." The genie is becoming more confused, but complies. For the third time, the genie snaps his fingers, and a horde of Mongols comes streaming in from over the horizon. They rampage across the countryside, burn down his barn, and then leave.

The genie then says to the farmer, "I have granted your three wishes. But I have to ask, why would you want Mongol hordes to invade your country three times and then go home?"

The farmer responds, "Because they have to travel through Russia six times."

He was gathering intelligence for Russia

Yes, Russia has always had a severe shortage of intelligence. It is dicultt to grow it in Russian soil.

The west is turning into nazi germany

?? What is the problem? The guy was a spy. He was gathering intelligence for Russia on drone factories in England. Sorry, but that's illegal in the UK.

LOL, good one. Does not explain why he was not exectuted and instead was released.

So, this guy was detained for questioning and then let go. How is this "turning into nazi Germany" ?

Contrast this with Russia, where people have been sentenced to seven years in prison for calling a war a war.
