Noah’s Ark Found!!

"A persistent patch of unusually warm tropical ocean helped intensify snowfall over East Antarctica, contributing to a temporary net ice sheet mass gain of about 695 billion tons, according to a new study published in Nature on August 19.

Researchers found that sustained warming in the tropical warm pool during 2021-23 set off a chain of atmospheric changes that ultimately affected weather thousands of miles away in Antarctica. The warming generated a Rossby wave train that traveled toward the continent, helped establish a north-south circulation pattern over East Antarctica, altered the movement of moisture, and increased regional snowfall. Together, these changes temporarily slowed the Antarctic Ice Sheet's overall loss of mass."

AI Overview

During past warm interglacial periods, global sea levels rose about 3 to 20 meters (10 to 65 feet) higher than they are today

USGS
If all land ice on Earth melts, global sea levels would rise by approximately 65 to 70 meters (about 216 to 230 feet)

Everest 29,000 feet
Mt Hood Oregon 11,000
Mt Rainier Washington14,000

Deepest point the oceans is abut 36,,000 feet. Average depth 12,000 feet. Roughly speaking to cover the Earth with water as high as the highest mountains would take ro0ughly twice the water in the oceans.

Numbers do no add up for Noah's flood.

The planet is pretty much flooded. at 71%. So anyway...I wasn't suggesting it was the only reason for a global flood to decline, if you remember some of my previous posts.

The only resort is to say I can't ex;plain it, but it happened because it is the bible ... god did it. The God Of The Gaps.

A Jehovah Witness told me the water was deep in the Earth and came to the surface. Another claim I heard there was a cloud of water floating in space, the Earth ran into it.

Given god winked the Earth and universe into existence he could just wink rain clo0u8ds to appear,

Abracadabra!!!!, let it rain, And so it rained.

I think in time there'd be counter claims to say the global flood was a natural phenomenon.
I have a come across one or two in the past who have thought that way.

There is evidencee for ancienet floods. There is no evidence for a global flood.

The Missoula floods (also known as the Spokane floods, the Bretz floods, or Bretz's floods) were a series of cataclysmic glacial lake outburst floods that swept periodically across the area that would become eastern Washington, northern Idaho and northern Oregon, and down the Columbia River Gorge at the end of the last ice age. These floods were the result of periodic sudden ruptures of the ice dam on the Clark Fork River that created Glacial Lake Missoula. After each ice dam rupture, the waters of the lake would rush down the Clark Fork and the Columbia River, flooding much of eastern Washington and the Willamette Valley in western Oregon. After the lake drained, the ice would reform, creating glacial Lake Missoula again.

The floods are what deposited the sediment hat makes Eastern Washington farm and wine country.

We know that there have been massive Lahars running from Mt Rainier to as far as the Puget Sound. It s a massive wave of melted ice, mud, and rock flowing from the slopes of Rainer.

Evidence of the Mediterranean Flood from a Barrier Break

The Zanclean megaflood — the refilling of the Mediterranean Sea after the Messinian Salinity Crisis — is supported by multiple lines of geological evidence, all tied to the moment when the Atlantic–Mediterranean barrier at the Strait of Gibraltar broke.

Lost of evidence for ancient events, nothing about a global flood.

Eh, let's face it, no one believes in the Bible's many ludicrous tales of supernatural events unless they've already made the emotional connection of converting. After that, any amount of magical events is cool as long as some apologist has written up some expanatory narrative with enough claims of metaphor and scientific-sounding anecdote to give some coverage for the believer.
600 year old man? Not a problem. Wooden boat holding every species? Could happen. God gets sick of the world and decides to kill everyone? Why not, they were dicks.
You don't need Occam's razor to tell you that your experience in the physical world and your exposure to man's irrational side point to the most likely source of Bible craziness. Hell, you could do it with Occam's crowbar.

I'm waiting for Learner to tell us that the earth is only 6000 years old and/or that a man was swallowed by a big fish, lived in the fish for 3 days and then was vomited up fully intact. Bible god was an evil god, or actually an evil myth. He mindlessly destroyed all kinds of people over little things.

I really wish people like Learner would read the book "Nonsense from the Bible" by Brian Baker. Baker was previously a Pentecostal preacher in Australia prior to having doubts about his religious beliefs, then he began investigating the Bible in more detail. After that he realized the Bible prophecies didn't match and the claims in the Bible were nonsense. I really enjoyed reading the book, although it did cause me to lose some respect for some of my Christian friends.

I need to study geology at times for work. When reading geology, you learn about the post-glaciation period and ice dams leading to large lakes forming up. Then moving backward to glaciation periods, and the tills and fills they deposited while leaving. The stuff that happened in between the glaciations. The Ancient preglacial Teays River. But we never get to the Noahian Epoch, where we see the geologic impacts from Noah's flood. There is nothing in the record indicating Noahian flooding. We didn't see the glaciers, but we have the evidence they existed: a Lake Erie island shows its scars from glaciation, Alaska is still rebounding from the glacial retreat, we have boulders from the north left behind, we have potholes carved into stone from glacial water melt.

There is nothing for the biblical Flood. Not where there were glaciers, not where there weren't glaciers. Not where the earth is driven to great heights as a subcontinent crashes into into a large continent. It isn't in the soil record. It isn't in the bedrock record. It is no where.

Well, let's get back to this "ark" that was "found" . . .
You can't start a thread about anything remotely attached to the bible without it turning into how dumb is religion thread, which quickly becomes a god Christians are so dumb thread, and given a page or two, morphs into god how dumb American Christians are thread.

Suppose Doctor Bakhtar were right and there is an "underground structure" with "corridors" at the site. Why would this be evidence of a particular ancient ark, as opposed to basically any other kind of building with corridors and other open spaces? I was on a survey once where GPR turned up a small single room structure in an area we hadn't been expecting any outbuildings at. Did I miss my moment? Should I have contacted CBS with the exciting news that I "might have found" Jimmy Hoffa's limousine?

Also...

why would an ark when covered with stone and dirt have lasting corridors for millennia? The wood would likely either deteriorate or break under weight. If there are truly "corridors" it seems far more likely to be a natural structure of stones or if artificial, a building, as you say.

Well! That is not outside the purview of what GPR can turn up. Oftentimes, structures will fill up with a different fill than the surrounding cortex, preserving the structure even as it is "buried" snd its original framing is lost to time. It'll still light up like a Christmas tree in the scan, as long as the signal bounces through at a different rate than the local norm and the whole thing hasn't deformed out of all recognizability (a likely fate of anything 5000 years old). We do find plenty of formerly wooden structures this way, boats included. Indeed, an upturned boat has reasonably good odds, they are sort of meant to be a sturdy roof in reverse, if you think about it. Hence why maritime areas without much local wood used to sometimes flip a boat and use it as the basis for homes or businesses.

The Durinpar site in Turkey is one of the dumbest Christian obsessions. Although I'm not sure how much traction it ever had; I never heard my born again cousins yakking about it. Wikipedia said it is composed mainly of an iron ore called limonite.
As noted in post 122, the thing looks much more like an engorged set of labia, with either A) a simply majestic, enormous clitoris or B) a dildo at the ready or perhaps C) an iguana crowning at the moment of birth. It seems more adaptable to the fertility cults of antiquity.

Ask me anything about female anatomy. I'll make up something.

potholer54, the person behind the annual Crocoduck Award, used to have some really great videos on his site, one about the "flood" and another about how the population "exploded" after Noah's Ark landed. Pretty funny with his dead-pan delivery.

Damn Aussies.

Indeed.

The most parsimonious explanation for this is that American Christians really are astoundingly and remarkably dumb, even amongst the very dumb Christians, who themselves exemplify how dumb religion (particularly biblical religion) is.
