The Race For 2024

Your post highlights above was rude and hateful, Poli.
The post I was replying to had no content, except a jab about supposedly kowtowing too much to Muslims. It's so far removed from the actual topic of either the thread or my post, I don't see how else one can respond. You hate Muslims. You think Democrats are too soft on Muslims. What is there to talk about? It had nothing to do with the topic at hand.

I don’t hate Muslims. I find the religion of Islam to be abhorrent toward women, and for thousands of years it’s been used to justify colonization, conquest, oppression, and genocide.

None of which justifies your nastiness and insults toward me.

If you don’t want to receive it, simply stop dishing it out. I’ve given plenty of warning of my expectations. You control the tenor of our interactions.

[Admin hat on] This thread has gotten quite personal in nature. Cut it out. Don't make me turn this car around and go back home. [Admin hat off]
I won’t start it. But I also will no longer tolerate personalized vitriol and contempt at me. Address the instigators, and this whole forum will be better for it.
Everyone here needs to grow a thicker skin. Political discussions can get heated. If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen.

I can take the heat. I've been taking the heat for 20 years.

You might consider asking some other posters to stop starting fires... or you can deal with the fact that I am going to return the heat that they bring. I'm not going to continue to be the target of other people's poor behavior and just meekly allow them to treat me like shit over and over. It's abusive, it's uncivil, it's disrespectful.

If they can't take the heat, they should consider turning their own flames down.

...for over a thousand years. The Bible hasn't even gotten to thousands of years of tyranny yet and it is 800 years older than the Qu'ran.

Christian Dominionists want women back in the home. Their movement is more public than ever thanks to people like Charlie Kirk helping to provide some dark red lipstick onto their pigheaded ideology. But we must worry about the Muslims that consist of probably 1/4 to 1/3 of the bring back the 50s Christian Dominionists in the US.

Just for consideration... what percent of people who call themselves christians do you think dominionists constitute? What percent of people who call themselves muslims do you think are constituted by those who subscribe to some truly horrific beliefs?

Not having gone to a church service since I was 5, I didn’t. Especially because it’s clouded by the whole “king” thing.
The "king thing" is what we were discussing in the thread - the inherent contradiction between theocracy and democracy. Most Americans explain away that distinction somehow and vote anyway. But it is not a theologically consistent position to take. Christianity is a monarchic faith, not democratic. The verse says "every knee shall bow", not "every voter shall have a say." An Australian has the excuse, at least, of being obliged by law to vote. But a Christian in the US has no excuse at all for seeking political power, nor supporting those who do. They are trying to "serve two masters", in Christian terms, their Lord and their local representative.
I don’t think that’s true, I don’t think it’s supported by Christian doctrine, definite not by Protestant doctrine. Render unto Caesar and all that. Generally, Christianity assumes the ruler of the state is not the leader of the church.

There hasn’t really been a Christian theocracy since the Byzantine. Technically Vatican City I guess, but since the only residents are literally part of the church, it’s kind of a weird one.

On the other hand… several Muslim theocracies are currently operating right now, and those theocracies strongly believe that the entire planet should be subject to Islamic religious rule.
I'm calling bullshit. I've heard from a lot of right wing Yanks "Jesus is still King". Coincidentally that occurred only after that nigger kenyan muslim became President but whatever. It's been a staple statement for nearly two decades in conservative dogma. Something at least half of America subscribes to. So you are either ignorant or full of shit.

I'll let you decide.

Tell me you've never worked with muzzies without telling me you've never worked with muzzies.

I was a department manager for a retail outlet in the suburb of Westmead (which is a predominately Indian Muslim community) for many years. Introduced my Mum, my sister to my co-workers. None of us felt the "you must shit your pants" scariness you subscribe. In fact, most of them hate the Middle East and think it's a shit place to live. In fact, when I was working there, a Sikhi made the critical mistake of saying he wasn't a fan of cricket. His nickname became "Paki-Sikhi" but to his credit he wore it like a champ. But we all got along.

So how many muzzies do you know?

I think Christians Dominionists outrank all Muslims by at least 3 to 1 in the US. Currently the VP of the United States is a Christian Dominionist, and technically the mostly likely candidate (for now) to replace Trump as President.

But good luck there looking under those rocks for the Muslims that'll make the lives of women in the United States more difficult.

Technically? You mean historically I’m sure.
If he even becomes a candidate in’28, I can’t wait for his “I saved America from what that horrible Trump guy I never met wanted to do!” speech.

I think the percentages are approximately the same, but the US populations are not - roughly an estimated 2% are Muslim and 60% are Christian. Even discounting the Christian estimate by 80%, that gives a 6 to 1 Christian to Muslim ratio.

Seems to me, Christian Nationalists/Dominionists (and their enablers and sympathizers) are a much more immediate threat to US society as we know it than Islam.

Well really it’s a semantic thing. How many Muzzies does it take to comprise a “Muslim Theocracy”?
Two? I could name that many.
Two million? Still a fringe, but damn scary sounding, in an age when anyone clever enough and determined enough could possibly cause the EOCAWKI in any number of ways.

So what’s the magic number?
Politically, the sky is the limit on both sides of the debate. Two mean Muzzies might pull it off. But two hundred million might fail in the same endeavor.
