Another Fucking Mass Shooting At US School

There are an estimated 20 to 24 million AR 15s in private hands in America. That ship has sailed.
It's not even that the ship has sailed, but that it's not a ship at all. It's a fish - more specifically, a red herring.

Very few homicides are committed using rifles, and AR15 or AK47 style rifles are just a subset of all rifles. And more people are killed by "hands, fists, feet etc." than with rifles. Handguns remain the weapon of choice for homicides.

Moreover, that school shooting in Oregon was perpetrated with a shotgun, not a rifle. The Tallahassee shooting was likely committed with one or more handguns.

I agree, the USA should definitely place severe restrictions on ownership, storage, carriage and use of handguns.

We disagree on how severe these restrictions should be, but we agree that they should be stricter than they are presently.

So what are you going to do about increasing restrictions?

What do you think I can do specifically?
In Australia Derec we could call you a 'gunner'. You gunner do this and you're gunner do that but end up doing nothing.

Specifically you could stop providing all the excuses, evasions, post-hoc rationalisations etc. for the shooting incidents mentioned herein.

In fact could you point out an instance where you supported any proposal to restrict the availability of guns or impose some form of licensing, no matter how benign , on guns in the USA?

That term is kind of ironic given the subject matter. But again, not being a politician, I myself can do precious little.

I am doing no such thing.

I would support licensing and mandatory liability insurance. Treat guns like cars!

What I am opposed to is the obsession Dem politicians and many posters on here have with so-called "assault weapons" even though they account for a miniscule fraction of gun crime. Remember β's "hell yes, we will take your AR-15s ..."? Or late SJL confusing semiauto AR-15 rifle with the bolt-action AR-50 ("a hernia with a scope on it" as Mike Ehrmantraut described it)?

I am also opposed to the level of restrictions bilby supports. I don't know how well you know his positions, but for example, he is opposed to allowing people to use firearms for self-defense.

You are doing it again.

Guns (any) in the wrong hands, or circumstances, kill. Who cares whether it looks like an assault weapon or a blunderbuss?

Again can you cite a post of yours where you have not said "I support gun restrictions but ........."?
