How should west respond to Russian invasion of Ukraine?

A record 54,400 Russian troops killed or severely wounded in the month of October as Russia for a second month loses territory in Ukraine. In most areas, Ukraine is on the offensive now. Details at ISW.
What a waste of a nation. But it is Russia. All they know is suffering and lies. And alcohol to make it all go away for a bit.
cool, no need to stop the war for you.

Russia can stop the war any time it likes by getting its troops out of Ukraine.

We don't want to.

From a report military recruiting is done mostly in poor rural areas.

Te enlistment bonus goes to their families.

The payouts are costing Put in a lot of money.

It suds like ancient times. A king or ruler gets into trouble and runs out of men. . Pay for foreigners or anyone from anywhere wiling to fijght.

Conscripts are drafted under the law, typically men aged 18–30, and serve a fixed term without signing a voluntary contract.

How They Differ from Conscripts
In Russia, contract soldiers — often called kontraktniki — are individuals who join the armed forces under a signed military contract rather than through compulsory military service (the draft). They are paid professionals or volunteers who agree to serve for a set period, often with financial incentives, and can be deployed to combat zones
Contract soldiers sign a written agreement with the Russian Ministry of Defence, committing to a specific service term (often 1–3 years) in exchange for salary, bonuses, and other benefits

I herd in Moscow you can buy armored umbrellas. Protection against drone shrapnel.

Barbos obviously ignores the obvious, Moscow has been under attack for some time. It is a war zone.

Part of Putin's plan when he invaded?

Most people actually like us. You are a minority.

I looked at The Moscow Tjmes and it did not seem Russian, it isn't. It is outside of Russia.

Twenty-seven Ugandans who were enlisted to fight for the Russian military in Ukraine have been killed or are presumed dead, a letter from Uganda's Embassy in Moscow to its foreign ministry showed.

The letter, seen by Reuters on Thursday, listed the names of 11 Ugandans confirmed dead and another 16 whose bodies could not be located.

The Moscow Times (MT) is an Amsterdam-based independent English-language and Russian-language online newspaper.[4] It was in print in Russia from 1992 until 2017 and was distributed free of charge at places frequented by English-speaking tourists and expatriates, such as hotels, cafés, embassies, and airlines, and also by subscription. The newspaper was popular among foreign citizens residing in Moscow and English-speaking Russians.[5] In November 2015, the newspaper changed its design and type from daily to weekly (released every Thursday) and increased the number of pages to 24.

he newspaper became online-only in July 2017 and launched its Russian-language service in 2020. In 2022, its headquarters were relocated to Amsterdam in the Netherlands in response to restrictive media laws enacted in Russia after the invasion of Ukraine. On 15 April 2022, the Russian-language website of The Moscow Times was blocked in Russia.[6][7] In 2023, the Ministry of Justice of Russia designated the paper as a foreign agent.[8] On 10 July 2024, the office of the Russian Prosecutor General announced that the newspaper was declared an undesirable organization.[9]

Some American foreign correspondents started their careers at the paper, including Ellen Barry, who later became The New York Times' Moscow bureau chief.[10]

I know personally plenty of Muslims who have zero desire to see genocide against Israel. I am sure many exist who do want to genocide Israel, but I have yet to meet one, and have good reason, both from personal interactions and from media reports, to think that even "most" would likely be false, and that "all" is absurd.

Most Muslims couldn't give a hoot either way about Israel. Just as most Catholics don't much care about birth control. The leaders of their religion care, and those leaders want their congregations to care. But wanting doesn't make it so, and lots of Muslims outside the Middle East (and plenty even within the Middle East) really have no particular reason to think about Israel at all.
You have met Muslims who live in West. They will not bare their heart before you.
They may be contributing to Islamic extremists or planning their own 'lone wolf' adventures.
I live in a world where there are 20% Muslims, Ask the Muslims in countries where their % is above 80.
Of course, Israel's bombs and missiles and US support for them, are reasons that inhibit them.

Unlike Russia, China, and North Korea we and the west have freedom of speech.

Over here you can likely find someone with academic credentials or just regular people who have an opinion to support your position.

Quote mining is looking for someone to quote.often with academic credentials, to support your position, ignoring all the other views.

An argument from authority (Latin: argumentum ab auctoritate, also called an appeal to authority, or argumentum ad verecundiam) is a form of argument in which the opinion of an authority figure (or figures) is used as evidence to support an argument.[1] While most sources agree this is not a valid form of logical proof and therefore obtaining knowledge in this way is fallible, there is disagreement on the general extent to which it is fallible. Historically, opinion on the appeal to authority has been divided: it is listed as a non-fallacious argument as often as a fallacious argument in various sources.[2][3]

The opinion of a Harvard professor is just an opinion.

Actiually you don't. But what's your point here?

That's what you do all day long here.
I merely said that great minds think alike. And I think like this professor who is as informed as I am about situation in Russia.
Contrast it with idiots in this thread who parrot CNN idiots.

You have met Muslims who live in West.
Mostly I have met Muslims who live further East than you do. I live at more than 153° East longitude.
They will not bare their heart before you.
That's one of the dumbest things anyone has said to me in a long time. You literally know nothing about my relationships with any of them.
They may be contributing to Islamic extremists or planning their own 'lone wolf' adventures.
Well, it didn't take long for the dumbest thing record to fall a second time.

My point? Hmm.....let me think... uhhhh ... My point is when it comes to human existence and rights compared to the west Russia is a dismal shit hole.

'great minds think alike', therefore what a Harvard professor thinks is shared by the majority of 'great minds'? HeeHeeHee. I start the week with a good laugh.

You are showing your Soviet era social conditioning to follow an authority figures.
