2026 Mid-Term Elections

Also, I wish we did not betray the Kurds just to appease Turks.
Have we ever formed an alliance that we did not, eventually, betray? We burn through international friendships like Joey went through Friends.
Reminds me of the Lord Palmerston quote
We have no eternal allies, and we have no perpetual enemies. Our interests are eternal and perpetual, and those interests it is our duty to follow."
(Spoken in the House of Commons on March 1, 1848, defending his foreign policy)

My faith in American democracy is restored, but not competently.

It's funny how when your tribe wins, "democracy has been restored!!"
Reading comprehension fail.
Steve stated that his FAITH had been restored.
Democracy might be somewhat restored a few years hence, when justice can be meted out, and laws passed to prevent Trumpy self dealings and tight controls, with harsh punishment defined for profiting from opportunities provided by public trust.
If, that is, the elected democrats don’t decide to follow Trump’s despicable example, now that he has paved numerous paths to self enrichment at taxpayer expense.

El-Sayed wins.

Woot! Sharia law in every pot!

This is such a fucking insane take. How is El-Sayed in any way or respect definable as an "Islamic fundamentalist"?

It's not insane at all. "Dr" Sayed is an America and Joooo hating islamic fundamentalist and communist. It's not like he goes to great lengths to hide it.

"Dr" indeed.
Leftwing fascist even. Just throw all the words at it. Where’s his project 2025 style agenda or actions in prior roles? Any?

Man, this "communist" label tossing is already getting real stale, as is the 'fundamentalist' attacks. Reminds me of Obama and Jeremiah Wright and how that fucking mattered somehow. Eight years of Presidential leadership, it didn't become a thing.
Fundi right wing commies. The worst! Probably funded by SOROS even though they hate the hood.

If a democratic majority is seated in the House on January 3rd, 2027, it will be no small miracle. Getting 51 Senate seats is a naive hope, though winning that many elections may not be.
I predict that if Dems “win” (get the most votes for) anything in this fall’s election, there will arise an extremely important emergency that requires martial law to “stabilize” things, at least until Trump dies.

Now is the time to see how this prediction pans out.

Is there a date by which this is supposed to happen?

Who am I kidding, Elixir never answers questions or backs up anything he says.

Mississippi is getting slightly bluer. Peltola needs a chunk of votes to come in to get to 50%+1, unless she has all of the other Republican's support and the other Dan Sullivan's support.

With the Sullivan stuff coming out more, Alaska was a potential loss for the Democrats. Never thought Mississippi could offset it. I bet Alaska is happy the Democrats didn't win just 50 seats at this point.

Said at end of last week...
Late polls are either outliers and it'll be 225 to 230 in the House and 50 to 52 seats (pre-Fetterman switch) in the Senate or indicating a severe blue tsunami where the Dems end up with 56 to 58 caucused seats and 260 seats in a gerrymandered house. The election will hang so heavily on right-wing turnout (and left-wing turnout) and it is impossible to predict that metric.
Well, we are definitely at the tsunami end of things with 54 current seats in the seat, up to 56, and right now, Dems have won or lead in 260 House seat races. Maybe I should have said 270, because 58 included Montana and Nebraska going for the Independent.

Wow... what class. They saw how Americans voted when eggs got expensive. What'd they think would have when gas was $4.50 an average nationally for the better part of a year?!

Also, exit polls were accurate on who'd won for everyone but SC and MS. And those were close.
