We've all seen those stupid (but sometimes fun) personality tests on Facebook. THIS is by the University of Cambridge, and shows you what kind of profile smart engines like Facebook can build about you from the information you provide them. The API I linked to above predicts demographics based on Facebook "likes".

Mine was almost dead accurate, but then, I'm not shy on Facebook as to my opinions. It scored me as 37 years of age (I'm 42). It scored me as a liberal non-believer, Contemplatively introverted, low on the neuroticism scale, correct on the sexual preference - I'm straight (I thought maybe I would have fooled it here, because I'm very gay-friendly/supportive on Facebook.)

It pegged me as married, which is close. (Long-term relationship with children)

It pegged me as 30% chance of being in engineering (nope) or 20% chance in IT (No, but an interest in of mine and I'm pretty tech savy.)

Fun!

My Facebook profile is far too slim for it. No prediction at all.

I don't really give likes to much on Facebook except friends posts. It was marginally accurate.

I spend too much time on Facebook and glad I don't twitter. I have to spend some time fishing and hunting.

OK, According to this I am 28 (wrong by almost 20 years); have a 69% chance of being female (nope); Am more intelligent than 64% of the population (according to my IQ they missed about 30 further %); and my education is primarily in Psychology and Art (13% each, both nope), or Business and Engineering (11% each), neither of which I have formal education in. My actual expertise is in IT (they guessed 10%) and Biology (they guessed 7%). It reckons I am most likely single (wrong).

It did get that I am more 'contemplative' (read: 'Introverted') than 81% of the population; That's about all it got right.

You must have done somethng wrong. I know this because the method is highly accurate. After all, it said I was more intelligent than 94% of the population. So duh. :p
