Kansas has some bad hombres. They rape, they steal, they murder... some are ok... but we need to put some restrictions on those dudes before anyone else gets hurt.
You know, Trump gets a lot of flak for this, but Mexico
really does have some bad hombres. And the violence is spilling over into Central America pretty bad. I mean, the narcos have always been bad, but this new breed of Mexican cartels has taken brutality and bloodlust to new heights. And the Mexican government is essentially a failed state - they cannot deal with the narcos effectively, and the level of corruption
is hard to believe. Of course, I bet a lot of Mexicans in Federal Government, the ones who aren't bought (and even many who are) do wish the US could help out. But the level of idiotic nationalism is as bad or worse in Latin America as it is in Mexico, so they cannot admit as much publicly, because it would ruin them politically. Probably moreso than actually being bought by the narcos.
Of course, a lot of this narco-violence is the result of US drug policy, and US Cold War policy, both of which ravaged Latin America. The CIA spread death, torture, and disorder throughout the latter half of the 20th century, mostly acting as thugs on behalf of Big Business -- "high class muscle men" -- who couldn't tolerate things like land reforms. Civil wars and brutal, repressive, right-wing dictatorships left entire generations orphaned, traumatized, and disappeared. This population has proved a fertile source of men (and women) willing to commit horrible acts of barbarity and mindless violence.
