The Orville And Religion

It's funny how so many people so secure in their faith and beliefs get so upset at the slightest suggestion they may be wrong. The fact that The Orville irks some Christians just makes me like it more. t's not high drama, sure, but it's fun to watch.

Those living in houses of straw may be expected to be unusually aggressive in their defense.

We need LOTS more shows that poke fun at nonsense and redirect the conversation from "respecting all beliefs" to "respecting all people".

The snowflakes are so easily triggered.

It's almost as if they know their truth claims are indefensible or something.

Star Trek has challenged religious belief since the 60s. This is only a momentary outrage because Seth McFarlane has already shown that he is the devil from his previous shows.

And yes, The Orville is a Star Trek series. ;)

"Define God Thread"

A "God Thread" is a line of reasoning that suffers from logical fallacies, inaccuracies, or other invalidating conditions, used to support a preferred belief that otherwise has no rational support. The one holding the "God thread" is "hanging on by a thread", so to speak, to their preferred belief.

Self-QFT? Is that a thing?

Self Quantum Field Theory? Are you an electron or a horny teenage nerd?

Let's ask Deepak Chopra.

Apparently this guy did...

Self what?

Assume that I don't understand Nazi "alt right" slang terms.

Are you upset about me using the term "snowflake" to refer to those who suffer from white fragility?

After reading the article and its links, I didn't see any "religious outrage" whatsoever. No comments from Christian leaders, not even a quote from a pissed off evangelical (and those people are guaranteed to be offended about anything). So where is this outrage?

With regards to Orville, I find it to be more Star Trek-ish then Discovery or Enterprise.

I'm fast losing interest in The Orville.

It would seem better named as "Seth MacFarlane's Intentionally Unfunny Version of Star Trek."

As much as I like Seth's cartoon works, I didn't find Orville funny, witty or engaging enough.

As to the uber-religious crying foul because their rants/unwarranted beliefs/stupidity isn't getting them their overly-privaledged way as much as it has in the past, whatever. They'll latch onto something else unimportant and uninfluential to bitch about soon enough.

I just saw the episode with the severed leg, and I'm liking the show more than I expected to.

Honestly, if it was constant over the top guffaws like in Galaxy Quest, I don't think it would hold my interest for very long.

"Quoted For Truth"... One usually doesn't quote one's self "for truth", but I did in this case.
I was attempting to reference a post of mine from another thread that I thought was apropos, and was sort of making fun of myself for the self-reference.

McFarlane has been quite outspoken about his atheist beliefs. He drew comparisons to the Civil Rights Movement, requiring people to rise up as a counter voice to those promoting religion.
Did they not realize who he is? He even produced the recent reboot of Cosmos, ffs.
