This time at a church in Sutherland Springs, Texas.

15 injured, multiple dead.

This was Texan on Texan shooting, so this means cops can just kill Texans in the street whenever they feel like right? I mean if the cops don't do it, they'll eventually do it to each other anyway, so what difference does it make?

Well, anyway, not enough Amanda die from this shit every year, so we'd better relax the gun laws even more. I mean, there are still amends left alive. We can't have that, can we?

The governor says he prayers are with the victims. How many times will we hear that stupidity repeated. That's the best you can do?

And Trump is monitoring the situation from Japan. I feel so much safer now.

Prayers?
Praise Allah? Vishnu? Jehovah?

Was this one of the usual religious sacraments (Islam, Chritianity etc) or a rare atheist atrocity?

These people were in church, praying. A lotta good it did them.

I wonder how many were armed at the time. (This is Texas, after all)

When is this country going to turn its collective back on the NRA and pass some responsible gun control at a national level?

Read that 860 people live in the town. If the death toll stays at 27, that's 3% of the population.

My heart dropped to the pit of my stomach when I heard of today's shooting at a church in Texas. It sunk further when I thought about the growing number of families in Las Vegas and Orlando and Charleston and Newtown, who have to relive their own horror every time another mass killing occurs.

The sinking feeling - the helplessness that washes over you as news of another mass shooting pings on your phone or scrolls across the TV screen. That feeling is not inevitable. I know this because no other country endures this pace of mass carnage like America. It is uniquely and tragically American.

But these shootings will keep happening if we continue to flood the country with dangerous weapons and consciously let those weapons fall into the hands of dangerous people. As long as the gun lobby assures that no laws are passed to make America safer, these killings will not abate.

Tonight, as my colleagues go to sleep, they need to think about whether the political support of the gun industry is worth the blood that flows endlessly onto the floors of American churches, elementary schools, movie theaters, and city streets. They need to ask themselves whether they can claim to respect human life while choosing fealty to weapons-makers over support for measures favored by the vast majority of their constituents.

My heart aches for Sutherland Springs. Just like it still does for Las Vegas. And Orlando. And Charleston. And Aurora. And Blacksburg. And Newtown. Just like it does every night for Chicago. And Bridgeport. And Baltimore. Now is the time for Congress to overcome its cowardice and do something.

From reading several stories...

The shooter was male and he is dead, not sure if he committed suicide after or if someone else shot him. Seems likely he did it himself. He killed a lot of innocent people--to include children, the 14 year old daughter of the pastor and a 2 year old. This is very dark and disturbed.

I read also that he was dressed in "full gear," whatever that means. I mean, I know what it would mean for me as a veteran, but to a layperson who was quoted as saying it, I am not completely sure. It must mean something about the ammo and number of weapons since he killed and injured so many. How many shots did he take, 100?

Someone said I am supposed to comment on public policy now, but let's face it...anything I say has no weight. So, as a parent and a civilian, I will take this time to say something about human policy instead. The big picture here is lack of empathy--thinking of other people as objects, instances of an "Other"--not as yourself and your loved ones. The people who died were Christians but it's still terrible. They may have largely been conservatives, too, but still terrible. Their children are really no different than ours and could end up in the same profession, the same location, friends, even partners some day with our children. So my human policy is that I will put myself in the place of the parents and imagine this, I will imagine the shooter-too, like a dark Anakin who allowed his mind to be corrupted, whether an atheist, an Islamist, a Republican, or a crazy person. Anyone can allow themselves to become dark and violent but less often and less so if they choose to look around and relate others' love and suffering to their own.

That's all I have.

A woman calling into MSNBC now saying two of her grandchildren were shot in this incident. One of them is not going to make it, she says.

Just more collateral damage for the 2nd amendment. God bless America and the NRA.

And she doesn't know where her daughter-in-law or her other two grandchildren are yet.

One (unconfirmed) report said that every person in the church was shot.

The fuckwads have already started:

Loyal Republican‏ @Loyal_GOP: It's amazing that Sutherland Springs reignites the #GunControl debate, when it should ignite the "Why Are Christians Being Targeted" debate.

#CutCBC‏ @CutCBC: Sutherland Springs, Texas Killer Devin Patrick Kelley is being said to be a Radical Alt-Left Antifa member.

Boston Bobblehead‏ @DBloom451: DEAR LEFT, Trump supporters don't go shooting up churches. Sutherland Springs shooter, Devin Patrick Kelley, is likely #Antifa & ALL YOURS.

aj‏ @ajJUSTaj: Sutherland Springs, TX. Yes this is #Islam let’s see how many peaceful Muslims exit that horrible cult .. my guess zero!

Stefan ✝️‏ @pstef732 Sutherland Springs Gunman Devin Kelley Wore "All Black" - Facebook Page Suggests He Was Diehard Atheist, CNN Fan

Oswald Vostok‏ @KuratorBirb: Our society & media seem unwilling to state the obvious: the Sutherland Springs shooter was possessed by a demon. #Antifa is Satanic!

Fucking assholes

I predict that Texas will be the first state to mandate carry laws for everyone 12 years and older, including firearms training in all schools. But females can opt out if they wish.
