Get ready for a right-wing blizzard, NFL doesn't change policy on National Anthem.

So kneeling won't be punished and President Trump will lose his shit on Twitter... in between calls to the families of fallen soldiers and telling them 'it's always darkest before dawn.'

“It’s important for us to honor our flag and our country and we think our fans expect us to do that,” Goodell said. "All Americans, including our leaders owe a sign of gratitude to our flag and our military. It sends the wrong message to partake in certain acts like, oh I don't know, kneeling during the anthem, poorly worded telephone calls to Gold Star families, dodging the draft, talking during the national anthem, loose talk that threatens Air Force pilots flying near North Korea..."
Okay, I admit, I might have taken a few liberties there with Goodell's statement.

I thought his line was "He knew what he was signing up for".

We've only heard one of the statements. With plenty of opportunities to adlib, any number of other statements are quite possible. That is why I used single quotes though.

'I'm also sending a letter in the mail to you, that I personally signed. And with Rocket Man in North Korea, I bet I'll be signing a whole bunch more, thousands, tens of thousands. I'll need to make certain my phone is fully charged for that. Anyway I thank your son for giving me practice.'
'It is better to have loved and loss... and believe me, I know about that, with two expensive divorces.'
Could end a call 'Thanks for your support'.
'I'm busy so I have to keep this short...'
'Obama's call would have been half as long, and twice as condescending.'

This is the problem with presenting a flag that is too damn big to fold... assuming you are even allowed to fold it!

This is the problem with projecting your emotional states onto a bit of colourful fabric, or any other inanimate objects.

Holding mere things to be sacred is a good way to justify doing stupid and cruel acts towards other humans. It doesn't appear to have any other benefits of any kind.

My first thought was that this is a photoshop job. Anybody know?

Really? Your first thought, about a flag that covers 45,000 square feet and weighs 1,200 pounds? And has to be off the field in a couple minutes?

You figured in real life they’d delay the game so they could break it down into its 14 pieces and fold them?

Your first thought?

How do you photoshop a curled up flag on the ground without a pic of a curled up flag on the ground?

One pixel at a time, apparently. [smh]

Yes, generally when I hear or see a fact from the Internet I wonder if it's true. In this case, it's a political message which for me would make it more suspect. I generally then try to confirm or deny it based on searching for primary sources, reliable sources, and even sources that may oppose it politically to get a balanced view.

Photoshop is an amazing thing.

By the way guys, I am not defending an idea this is photoshopped. I just said it was my first thought.

I did a quick couple of google searches and did not yet find anything about it being photoshopped.

It is really hard for me to get conceive this is real because as a veteran I know some people think it is a huge deal for a flag to touch the ground and there ought to be many veterans on the field and around the field. The place where the flag is kept looks dirty. Those guys are all some serious hypocrites or something and a claim like that required me to dig.

Update

Well, I've searched the web a bit and haven't seen anything about this being a hoax. It looks like it's probably real.

While searching, here's another one I found on snopes. It's of a football fan with t-shirt that reads I stand for the national anthem.

Snopes has it as TRUE.

Papa Johns worried NFL protest is hurting their bottom line. Odd... I always wondered why anyone would eat a Papa Johns' pizza, forget pay for one.

article said:
Papa John's in-game pizza sales have fallen since President Donald Trump encouraged people to boycott the NFL in late September, sources told the Sports Business Journal.

NFL spokesperson Joe Lockhart confirmed to Sports Business Journal that Papa John's had expressed concerns with the league. Further, Lockhart said that other top sponsors have expressed similar concerns as the NFL's TV ratings slump and political battles play out in the league.

What good cause? Demonizing police for defending themselves from the likes of Michael Brown?

That took nearly 12 hours. Stop slacking off.

Still plenty early to be throwing around words like "devote their lives."

I think that refers to his "Hillary Clinton belongs in jail" stance.

Amnesty International names Colin Kaepernick the Ambassador of Conscience

The former NFL quarterback, who famously took a knee before games to protest racial inequality, joins Nelson Mandela and Malala Yousafzai as a recipient of the prestigious award.

AmnestyInternational said:
We're honored to present athlete and activist Colin Kaepernick (@Kaepernick7)—who refused to ignore or accept racial discrimination—with the #AmbassadorOfConscience award. Thank you for your courage to act against injustice and inspire others!

Kaepernick has emerged a hero and a man to be respected.

The miserable people who opposed his freedom to make a statement about unjust action will be miserable for the rest of their miserable worthless lives.
