NIKKI HALEY MOST POPULAR U.S. POLITICIAN, POLL FINDS

A new Quinnipiac University poll found that US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley has the approval of 63% of American voters, CNN reported on Thursday.

US President Donald Trump garnered the approval of 39%, two points down from his high of 41% on April 10. Fifty-four percent of respondents reported they disapproved of the job the president was doing, while seven percent said they did not know or had no answer.

Haley’s approval reached across the divide as 75% of Republicans, 55% of Democrats and 63% of Independents responded in support of the former South Carolina governor.

I've thought Trump's selection of Haley to be the UN Ambassador, and then elevating her to a cabinet-level position, was to give her the foreign-policy credentials to run for president. When it comes to current foreign policy, she was certainly more relevant than the now departed Rex Tillerson. If she did run for president it's hard to imagine her losing.

My guess is most people have no clue what Nikki Haley stands for or what she would try to do as POTUS. Add in that 2024 is such a long time away and we have no idea who might be the other candidate, I think this tells more about your imagination than it does about Haley.

I’ve paid a little attention to her. She’s pretty impressive. Although somewhat trump-tarred, she could still be formidable.

She has the Trumpian problem of not being able to shine on her own. The whole "I don't get confused" thing was good for her, but not in itself presidential. Time will tell...some people are saying Wolff's book was implying Cheeto was doing her.

It is a mistake to equate approval ratings with electability. Personally, I would much prefer her over Pompeo as Secretary of State. She has talent as a diplomat. However, she would not help fix the cabinet as long as the current cabinet maker remains in charge. He will just keep breaking it until someone takes his hammer away.

I'm not overly fond of her conservative politics, so I like her just where she is. She's competent where she's at, but I haven't really seen any novel ideas or anything else which stands out from the current crop of Republicans, except that she isn't halfway nuts, which is a boon nowadays.

She will never be elected POTUS as a republican.
The evangelicals selected Trump as their candidate. They'll handle the 'not white' thing just fine.

Haley has the political skills. But it depends on how badly the Trump Admin crashes and if it takes everyone out.

I agree with Copernicus that she might be a good SoS, but just because people like her, doesn't mean that she would make a good presidential candidate. Of course, she would be a big improvement over Trump, but so would most of us, for that matter. If Trump was setting her up for an eventual run for president, he would have made her his SoS. But then again, that man doesn't even capable of putting much thought into anything he does.

Trump never considers setting anyone else up for anything - good or bad. At any given moment it's all about what Trump thinks is good for Trump. Period.

Meh, I remember when John McCain, Sarah Palin and Paul Ryan were popular Republicans and considered "Presidential material".

Right now, anyone affiliated with Trump who isn't neck deep in some kind of investigation for something looks extremely competent.

One shouldn't be given too much credence when their popularity is based largely on not being an awful human being.

...or not being caught yet.

I'm bumping this thread because Nikki Haley is likely to become a front-runner for the GOP Potus nomination -- especially now since she is happy to present herself as virulently anti-Palestinian. It will be good to know this woman. Let's start be reviewing her latest despicable lies.

Nikki Haley said:
I don’t know how the Left justifies the beheadings. I don’t know how the Left justifies 1,200 people dead. I don’t know how the Left justifies the torture. That’s between them and God. I don’t understand it and I don’t want to understand it.

Note that she accuses "the Left." It would be despicable enough to write "some extremists on the Left" since the vast majority of leftists -- even "extreme leftists," whatever that means -- are appalled by Hamas' atrocities. MORE appalled than QOP stooges, who are probably happy for a new direction to vent hatred. Promoting hatreds is their main political drive these days.

Haley joins a chorus of pro-Netanyahu talking heads who have condemned -- despite that Tlaib called Hamas' actions "war crimes" -- Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib for her comment on the War:
I grieve the Palestinian and Israeli lives lost yesterday, today, and every day. I am determined as ever to fight for a just future where everyone can live in peace, without fear and with true freedom, equal rights, and human dignity. The path to that future must include lifting the blockade, ending the occupation and dismantling the apartheid system that creates the suffocating, dehumanizing conditions that can lead to resistance.
Apparently even expressing sympathy for the thousands of innocent Palestinians who are being massacred as I write makes one anti-Israel.

I've mentioned this before in another thread, but I see zero evidence in the current climate of the GOP base rallying around someone like Nimarata Haley née Randhawa. The official reason would be her past with the UN (see "globalist"). The unofficial reason why nobody with a red baseball cap would vote for her is pretty fucking obvious also.

Yeah, you can't expect cowboys to vote for Indians.

Well, this is a pretty common republican meme: the left is weak on defense. Not surprising that she's using this. Quite honestly, she's the only non-bat shit crazy republican who has a chance with the moderates.

My money's on Tim Scott for running mate -- for some of the same reasons that McCain went with Palin. "See? We can promote a woman to the top..."

Not really. Absent the very unexpected, the primaries are basically over for the Demolicans and the Republicrats.

The unofficial reason why nobody with a red baseball cap would vote for her is pretty fucking obvious also.

What is it?
