A day without stupid?

Tariff Man! is turning it up to 11.

When people or countries come in to raid the great wealth of our Nation, I want them to pay for the privilege of doing so. It will always be the best way to max out our economic power. We are right now taking in $billions in Tariffs. MAKE AMERICA RICH AGAIN
The billions in tariffs are being paid for by US corporations and the citizens of the United States... not China. Seems odd to name yourself after something of which you don't seem to even understand what it is. ROBBING PAUL TO PAY MARY SO WE ARE ALL RICH AGAIN!

Reminds me more of The Beatles’ “Nowhere Man”:

He’s as blind as he can be //
Just sees what he wants to see.

“We have a very strong relationship with the government of Germany,” Nauert said at a press briefing on Tuesday. “Looking back in the history books, today is the 71st anniversary of the speech that announced the Marshall Plan. Tomorrow is the anniversary of the D-Day invasion. We obviously have a very long history with the government of Germany, and we have a strong relationship with the government of Germany.”

Trump's nominee for UN Ambassador, everyone.

She said this June, not 20 years ago or while in grade school. So such an unbelievably daft person should not be allowed to go to the UN to represent... wait... this is the Trump Administration. I suppose that makes sense after all.

I wonder if Japan holds the date of December 7th near and dear to their hearts.

And imagine the celebrations Saudi Arabia will hold on September 11th, 2071.

Well, Trump and his Administration have almost single handedly been responsible for a 6% drop in the Stock Market in the last three days.

I am so pleased with myself for selling all my equities on Monday*... broker objected, saying the economy is still good. I told him I'm not selling my interest in the economy, I'm selling my interest in the stock market.
Not that I actually know WTF I'm doing with stocks, but neither does he. My tentative plan is to wait it out until the end of February. By then, I figure there might be some legible writing on the wall...

* I know, it could jump 1000 points tomorrow, but I am NOT betting on it

Back in January I threw some money into a couple mutual funds. Not a lot of money, but they both had solid growth over the last 5 years so I figured it was a good bet.

Turns out I'd have been better off parking it in a simple savings account. Or in a mattress. Or taking 5 percent and just lighting it on fire.

I don't think Germans are all that upset about losing the war. When you live in a totalitarian dictatorship winning is also losing. I'm pretty sure they're today grateful about getting some help to remove Hitler

Smocking gun!

https://www.salon.com/2018/12/10/sm...ts-after-trump-misspells-the-same-word-twice/

The latest meme craze came from this Tweet:

Grovel McTreasonpants said:
“Democrats can’t find a Smocking Gun tying the Trump campaign to Russia after James Comey’s testimony. No Smocking Gun...No Collusion.” @FoxNews That’s because there was NO COLLUSION. So now the Dems go to a simple private transaction, wrongly call it a campaign contribution,...

Twitter swung into action immediately. Including:

some CNN guy said:
“Smocking Gun” was an incredible band back in the 80s.

“Appliqué all day” was a giant hit.

Or this non-funny response:

some Harvard law professor said:
This tweet is itself a SMOKING GUN: Saying it was wrong to call his payments a “campaign contribution” implies he’s known all along that he wanted to make a campaign “expenditure” while hiding it from voters by funneling it off the books by contributing to a shell company

[conservolibertarian]That Trump is such a genius! Once again, he is outsmarting everyone! He's playing 47th-dimensional chess!!!!!![/conservolibertarian]

Magaheads swear that's how it's always been spelled.

Well, I've never heard of a gun that shoots smocks (and garment-shooting devices are usually called "cannon", not "gun"), thus I'll agree with them that there was no smocking gun. A good way to cover up the actual smoking gun!

"Smocking Gun"... what a foe paw!

High school kids writing an essay on a short book are expected to proofread it for errors.

Apparently the "Leader of the Free World" is held to a, umm, different standard.

High school kids writing an essay on a short book are not expected to sell the United States of America out to the highest bidder, obstruct justice, aid and abet murderers, fuck porn stars, rail against law enforcement and suffer no consequences. Yes, I'd say there's a bit of a difference there...

When I was a high school student, I expected me to be fucking porn stars with no consequence.
It didn't work out, but hey, I was a high school student.

:D
