Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Who called it a left wing publication? The Times is a real source of news, not left or right. I'll take the Times over any other source of news out there. But, I'm not going to argue about that in this thread, which is supposed to be about a certain Congress woman. And, what I posted was an opinion piece. I just happen to agree with that opinion. So, can we stop derailing the thread?

I have no idea where you got the impression that the opinion piece that I posted had anything to do with siding with rich fucks who want to cheat on their taxes. Are you serious?

The Times is a biased source of news.

Here they are defending tax cheats.

They are the news of the status quo, of the powers that be.

Many of their columnists are running jokes.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "We’ve actually introduced legislation to this effect: #HR1, For The People Act. But members who rely on corporate and dark money (aka a lot) have been fighting to water it down or defeat it altogether. My “bad guy” questions were actually for the Oversight hearing *on* HR1!… https://t.co/LeFnx3asKa"
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "Republicans are calling HR1 a power grab. @AyannaPressley had the best rebuttal: “Yup. You got us. We’re grabbing the power back for the people” instead of corporations."

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "Ayanna has too many incredible qualities to count, but the fact that she picked the name “A Team” for her staff is 👌🏽 (We‘re still in the market for a clever team name!)… https://t.co/5yYpBhm1MP"
noting
Ayanna Pressley on Twitter: "I love this mashup but I’m re-framing it so you can get a glimpse of some of the women behind this woman. Grateful to my dedicated A team and the committee staff for the diligent preparation that went in to yesterday’s hearing #inthistogether #shinetheory @RashidaTlaib @AOC… https://t.co/V0L55Td4ic"

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "ICYMI: Rep. Khanna got Cohen to testify that Don Jr. is the “second executive involved in criminal conspiracy.” His line of questioning was a very big deal. (He also happens to be a progressive Rep that rejects corporate money!) ⬇️… https://t.co/KD80yquh03"
noting
Ro Khanna on Twitter: "We got some explosive admissions about the President, his son Donald Trump Jr., and Allen Weisselberg’s criminal conspiracy for financial fraud.… https://t.co/jvQow0EDQT"
noting
POLITICO on Twitter: "Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA): Are you telling us, Mr. Cohen, that the president directed transactions in conspiracy with Allen Weisselberg and his son Donald Trump, Jr. as part of a criminal conspiracy of financial fraud, is that your testimony today? Cohen: Yes.… https://t.co/2xjX9xvWGw"
Also
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "Folks are trying to argue it, but it’s what happened. I am stating what transpired at the hearing, as reported by Rep. Khanna: https://t.co/2vwdgxoT1o"

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "My staff + I come to decisions through robust discussion + debate - we operate as a team. They are also intro’d at community events, bc I want constituents to grow familiar w/ the people picking up the phone when they call. As an educational organizer, I view it as development.… https://t.co/tN4Inv52xa"

No, the article that I linked is not in any way defending tax cheats. if anything, the piece is calling out members of Congress who didn't ask relevant questions regarding Trump cheating on his taxes etc. I doubt that you even read the article so I don't know why you bothered to comment.

Unlike you, I like to hear opinions from people that I might not agree with, but then I'm a person who tries not to claim that she's always right and those who disagree with me are always wrong. The Times has editorial contributors from both the left and the right, but not from the far left and the far right.

CSPAN on Twitter: "WATCH: Complete exchange between @RepAOC @AOC and Michael Cohen.… "

She quizzed him on the National Enquirer's catch-and-kill strategy about Trump scandals. Also about Trump's golf courses, like one in NYC that was paid for by taxpayers yet that Trump owns. Also about a strategy for reducing one's tax bill: reduce one's claimed value of one's property. That was also done for the assets that he received from his father. Also mentioned was increasing that claimed value for insurance companies.

What it looks like to me is the lefts version of The Tea Party has come to the Democrats. I wonder how the old gaurd will react to this?

The questions of Cohn were all predictable. Standard political theater playing to constituents.

She remains inexperienced in the economy, organization, foreign affairs and is prone to ideologue sound bites.

The Green Deal is absurdly impossible to implement.

Horseshit <------ said with just as much unsubstantiated authority as your claims, but assuredly far more accurate than your words.

The Tea Party was a phony paid for movement.

The people caught up in it were total suckers.

What we have here is just a woman who sees the injustice all around her and talks about it.

Could be. they seemed to have been a flash in the pan, but I thought Ted cruse and that so-called freedom caucus came from all that. Seems the Republicans try to out do eachother on how conservative they act like. It would seem to me that that atmosphere would prevent anyone from working well with anyone else beyond their own level of fanaticism.

I'm still wondering how the old guard of the Democratic party will deal with those like aoc who seem to take no prisoners. She and Ilhan Omar seem to be taking up all the energy of the in the media and that isn't all that great knowing the propensity of the media to capitalize of controversy over character.

Something tells me that Miss Cortez is going to run headlong into a brick wall with some of the more established Democratic lawmakers. I've always thought that the Democrats were more Republican light than left wing. What she says in my mind should have already been here, particularly the idea of universal healthcare. The aca simply allowed the fox(health insurgence industries) to control the hen house and left a lot to be desired as far as controlling the Pharmaceutical industry. I still thank those that misrepresented the addictive qualities of these drugs like Oxycontin should have been lined up and shot. They destroyed a lot of lives.

Could be. they seemed to have been a flash in the pan...

Everybody is a flash in the pan.

All that goes on are ideas.

And her ideas scare many people in an unjust system.

Talking to the King about democracy is a little frightening to the King who has no legitimate right to his position.

I agree with your point about ideas. Trouble is that there are far too few who are selfless enough to bring about the changes that are needed. Some blame Capitalism, but I really think the problem is materialism. It's like this thing about this border wall. The Republicans talk all day long about how illegal drugs are coming across the American border, but if there wasn't a desire for those drugs then the issue would not be. The arrogance of many in this country is staggering. We need to work on ourselves and get ourselves right before pointing to an issue we caused, with our greed and our arogance and deny our complicity . The money we send down there buy the guns and the influence that terrorizes the citizens of that country and we want to close the boarder on them because of the violence we foster.

Good flipping grief, man. Are we still in Kansas Toto? shaking my head.

...Trouble is that there are far too few who are selfless enough to bring about the changes that are needed....

You can't just destroy the current system and create massive starvation.

Right now is a time for education.

Right now is the time for top down structures to defend their existence.

The problem is we are destroying the environment and will one day run out of oil.

The current system is going to have a massive collapse even if we don't want one. The only question is when.

My point was that their are too many that say I've got mine. They aren't willing to put forth the effort to facilitate others to acquire anything, because they deam others to have the same opportunities that they have. One idea I've had was to allow college students to rid themselves of much of their student debpt by volenterring to do social work and go into minority areas and tutor the under privledged. The government could set up a program to facilitate this

When I was young the government had a bussing program that bused minority kids into white areas to attend school. This was a good idea, but it didn't go far enough. these colloge kids need to go in these minority houses and see how they live under the burden of poverty to truely understand them. I grew up in a black neighborhood of Kansas city, Ks. I played with black kids. I visited their homes. I learned so much that I will never forget about those times.

Good point. I think there are a lot of people who make assumptions out of pity for those they don't truly understand instead of respect for those peoples to work with them. I think they end up end up placating their own self image and do nothing for those they claim to want to help.

AOC supplants Clinton and Pelosi as conservatives’ greatest foe In the most recent gathering of the Conservative Political Action Conference, Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi were barely mentioned, despite having been major villains for the Right in recent years.
Instead, by far the greatest animosity — and anxiety — was reserved for Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., the 29-year-old House newcomer who has single-handedly pushed the agenda of the Democratic Party to the left. As much as Republicans oppose her agenda — the “Green New Deal,” a 70 percent tax rate on the wealthy — they thrill at the prospect of using her to broadly paint the Democrats challenging President Trump in 2020 as like-minded socialists.

“The moment America becomes a socialist country is the moment America ceases to be America,” Vice President Mike Pence said on the convention’s second day.
The event started with a panel discussion called “Marketing Marxism: There’s Nothing New About the Green New Deal.” Some of the participants slammed the GND for supposedly featuring getting rid of cows.

The left's going after Trump from day one reminds me of Wiley E Coyote chasing the Road Runner. The Acme Company [radical Left Dems] are the tools used but fail to catch him.

You're living in a delusion.

Trump is by far the most incompetent person ever to be elected president.

Nothing but a con man.

Who is still conning some.

Of course had he being a Dem he'd be okay?

Here's a do as I say, not what I do from the Dems latest darling.............
