The Wall

It can be because when Democrats suggest making Election Day a Federal Holiday, the GOP cried it was a "power grab".
Hey, wait, all this time I thought the Dem base was the welfare people? Inner city do-nothings who don't have a job to get an excused absence FROM.
All this 'free stuff from the government' promises for DEM voters... Why would our voters numbers go up if businesses were closed?

Let's face it. Many people vote for what's in it for them. Exhibit 1 is the high number of votes the loopy socialist Bernie Sanders received by promising free shit for everyone.

If you're putting tax money in, you should be getting something back some day or other: namely, better defense and general welfare.

Obviously that would be #3 at best.
#1 would be the number of morons who voted for a semi-literate, blatantly sociopathic huckster who promised them he would give everyone very tremendously great healthcare at a fraction of the cost, there would be a 30' wall across the entire southern border, coal jobs would come back, and ISIS would be destroyed in 30 days.

I think America could have destroyed ISIS in less than 30 days if they so wished. But political correctness was in the way. Most of the advisers would have told the Trumpet, to try to not offend the Arab states.

Yes, I always wanted the CEO of the company I worked for to have a huge tax cut while I got a pittance. And whatever tax cut I did get was more than wiped out by higher insurance costs. Totally was in it for that. Plus, who didn't want our "shining city on a hill" to be a refuge for white nationalists?

And when I thought "what would be really good foreign policy?" I remembered my lifelong dream of the US becoming so much more isolationist, pissing off all our traditional allies, and giving Kim Jong Un his proper place as a respected world leader and best buddy of the President.

Yep. These are all things that are so good for America! Who needs college and healthcare?

Isn't democracy great!

Isn't democracy great!

No, it's the worst system possible. Except for the ones in operation in Russia, Saudi Arabia, North Korea, the Philippines... and everywhere else ruled by one of Trump's "lovers".

Yes, when a Democrat suggests taxpayer funding programs that benefit the taxpayers... that is giving away "free shit".

When Republicans promise to underpay programs they pass by undercollecting tax obligations... that is "freedom" or something.

Yeah, Trump's always been hesitant to offend brown people in shithole countries in order to keep a campaign promise. Sure.

Nice story, but you ignore the fact that Trump's "plan" to defeat Isis was, once in office, to direct 'the generals' to come up with a plan to defeat Isis.
Until he hit on the idea to just announce that we'd defeated Isis...

So, denied funding for his wall (so far) he's decided that in order to solve the "crisis" at the border, he'll just shut the whole thing down.

The White House insists this isn't a bluff.

“It certainly isn’t a bluff,” White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said of Trump’s border closure plan on Fox News Sunday morning. “You can take the president seriously.” White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney echoed on ABC’s This Week, saying that it would take “something dramatic” to change his boss’s plans. “The president will do everything he can” to end the “humanitarian crisis” at our border, Mulvaney explained. “If closing the ports of entry means that, that’s exactly what he intends to do. We need border security and we’re going to do the best we can with what we have.

According to an article I found in Investopedia:

On the imports side, Mexico was the second-largest supplier of goods imports to the U.S. in 2017, with a total of $314.3 billion in goods imported that year. U.S. imports from Mexico made up more than 13% of overall U.S. imports that year.

Some of the most important categories for imports from Mexico include vehicles, with about $84 billion, electrical machinery, with $62 billion, machinery, with $54 billion, optical and medical instruments, with $14 billion, and mineral fuels, with $11 billion. Additionally, there were about $25 billion in agricultural product imports from Mexico, divided between fresh fruit and vegetables, wine and beer, snack foods, and processed fruit and vegetables.

FFVC has decided that sinking a few hundred billion dollars in trade is a fair exchange for stopping a few hundred asylum seekers. And apparently nobody in the White House is saying "that's an incredibly stupid idea."

So what? Cheato PROMISED. And broke it like every other promise.

Most of the advisers would have told the Trumpet, to try to not offend the Arab states.

That's "advisor" - singular. He takes orders from his despot friend MBS. Cheato doesn't need anyone else to tell him how much money he'll lose if he doesn't obey the Crown Prince.

I know that setting down the border could possibly lead to a recession, as well as a lot of chaos, but I doubt he will carry out this threat. He's made this thread before, but then moved on to some other crazy shit. He's fucking nuts! He's unfit to be president, yet he's still there in the WH making all kinds of crazy threats.

Only if we were willing to kill vast numbers of innocents in the process.

That's called Collateral Damage. During WW2, millions of German's were killed in order to defeat the Nazis. ISIS is no better, in fact even more barbaric than the Nazis ever were!

Loving how those words are italicized and capitalized like you literally think the movie Collateral Damage is what established the concept

A couple things, the Nazis were slightly better organized.

Second, only around half a million (still a big number) of German civilians were killed by the Allies, not millions.

Also, Germany tried to take over Europe... ISIS... Syria.

I think it's also hilarious how someone who thinks the Palestinians are slightly less than human is suddenly concerned about collateral damage.

Except ISIS is an occupying power. The equivalent would be obliterating French cities, not German cities.

It's Hamas I think is slightly less than Human. The Palestinians are victims of Hamas and the Islamists in general.
