That word salad doesn't mean much. Yes, some people misuse the word, often deliberately, like the dishonest attack on Derschowitz.



There certainly is. There is a huge difference between being sexually attracted to a 16 year old vs. an 8 year old. And a person who can't comprehend the difference is too far gone the rabbit hole of mindless moralizing to be helped.

It's pedophilia. And anyone who wants to have sex with 16 year olds, other than ~16 year olds, is a pedophile.

It's not. And again, 16 is legal in most US states, all of Canada, and most of Europe (and in many countries aoc is in fact even lower than 16!) To equate that with sex with prepubescent children is sick frankly.

I repeat, it's pedophilia. The only ones who I generally see try to claim it isn't, who fight this, are pedophiles who want to groom young teenagers.

Conflating attraction to post-pubescent teens with pedophilia does a grave disservice to people like me who were actual childhood victims of actual pedophiles.

But don't let that stop you.

It also infantalizes the victims in cases like the ones under discussion.

What was going on here? It seems like major-league negligence. Or else some of his jailers wanted to let him get himself out of the way, and save them from unpleasant visibility or whatever they might be worried about.

What happened was something that happens all the time in America's prison system. The one bit of solace that could have come out of this situation unfortunately was tied to the railroad tracks and run over by the conspiracy train.

In the late 1980s—before he was a member of Donald Trump’s Cabinet, or even a high-rolling hedge-fund manager—Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin served in an official capacity for a business run by one of Jeffrey Epstein’s most infamous associates.

In official records, Mnuchin is listed as the official state point of contact for Next Management Corporation, a company formed in 1988 by modeling-industry insiders Jean-Luc Brunel and Arnaud Brunel. At the time, Jean-Luc Brunel had just been the subject of a 60 Minutes documentary accusing him of drugging and raping at least three models. Later, he would be accused by two women of supplying girls to Epstein to be sexually abused. (Brunel has denied the allegations.)

Records accessed by The Daily Beast list Mnuchin as the New York Department of State process for Next Management Corporation. According to department officials, the DOS process is the person who files a company’s registration papers and receives lawsuits and other official documents on their behalf—usually a lawyer or some other legal representative.

It's also not considered a disorder. It's natural to be attracted to young, yet physically mature, people. Teen categories of porn sites are popular for a reason.
And a teenager can be an adult (18-19) or minor above age of consent (16-17 in many states). So it's not even necessarily a crime to act out on those attractions as long as it is consensual.
