Can you "expunge" the Congressional Record? Or does the GOP simply pass a resolution saying the Impeachment thing was Bullshit and it never happened?

Trump and the Repugs can't erase history. I have no idea what can be "expunged" from the government records but the news reports and published government documents are now unexpungable history. Unless they can somehow repeal freedom of the press, there is nothing they can do about that.

There is simply no viable argument to suggest Trump's conversation to Bolton over strongarming the Ukrainians to get a fake investigation announcement is a matter of national security... other than the actual betrayal of Trump being a matter of weakening national security.

Have you been asleep for the last three years? Trump has made it a point to conflate himself with the Nation at every opportunity, and his idiot followers lap it up. Any insult to Cheato is an insult to his security (i.e. a trigger to his insecurity) and therefore a threat to National Security. The fact that he can't yet enforce it fully like his lover Kim would do, is a front burner problem for Trump and one that his team of toadies is working on feverishly.

Those are very good questions, because an impeachment has never been expunged before. There is no precedent for this.
I do know that when a criminal conviction is expunged, all records of it are destroyed. The newspaper reports of it aren't though. If the Republicans regain the House, and if they go through with it, then it probably will be removed from the record, but not anything else.

Has anything been expunged from the Congressional Record? Don't we still have the 18th Amendment. It wasn't "expunged", it was merely repealed.

It's not a watchdog publication, but created for the use and convenience of the Congressmen. I think it was a 60 Minutes article back in the 70s, they filmed a rep voting FOR a measure on the floor, then went and told the CR to record it as an AGAINST vote. So he could tell his constituents whatever he wanted.
They also edited in speeches on days they didn't even show up. Probably isn't done as much anymore, since C-Span and watchdog groups record their every fucking move, but there's nothing to stop it.
Won't change nothin'. But they can wank themselves silly with the efgort.
Also, i imagine some ststes are going to buy the history books that list 45 presidents, but only say 2 impeached. The surface tension on the bubble grows thicker....

Well, it's good to know that if Cheato's impeachment is expunged from the Congressional record, it can be re-entered and grandly embellished by the next Dem President (if there is a next president).
