Pro-Lifer says, "Let them die if it costs me money"

Go ahead - lift all the restrictions. Then when all the businesses open back up and are running at full operating expense with a grand total of 0 customers, will these mouth breathers finally realize that the economy is a result of a pandemic and not the government or will they complain that the government isn't forcing people go out and shop?

aa

It seems like you are saying that the forced lock down is not necessary. If people are not going to go to the small businesses anyway, there is no need for an enforced shutdown. But it's not about lifting ALL restrictions. It's about allowing small businesses to act with discretion as to how they can keep their business afloat.

Taking a stay at home order and turning it into a recommendation to appease the mouth breathers will further endanger those of us who have enough sense to stay at home when we do have to go out for groceries and other necessities.

The ones who spin his comments are the Democrats who take quotes such as, "This is their new hoax" to mean, "He doesn't think the virus is real!!!!!!" When Trump called impeachment a hoax, he didn't mean the impeachment was fake. He meant the Democrats thinking this will bring him down is the hoax!

Why do you think Trump will win in a landslide in November? Because people see how hysterical the media gets over Trump and always take him out of context to ridicule him. People like an underdog who's constantly bullied and ridiculed.

His hoax claims about the impeachment were about what he allegedly did wrong. He was saying there is nothing behind the allegations. Applying this to Covid-19 he's saying the virus is real but not a threat--which was the approach he kept taking until the flames were too hot to ignore. It's become obvious the Republican strategy is to sacrifice a few million people on the altar of the economy. Human sacrifice is normally considered extremely evil.

Mouth breathers or not, people are suffering extreme hardships because they have had their livelihoods taken away from them unnecessarily. It's enough already. It's time to ease up and start allowing some businesses to open. Keeping the "stay at home/shelter in place" order because of mass hysteria is unnecessary and unjust.

I find it remarkable that many right-wingers are complacent about the COVID-19 virus. One would expect them to be especially fearful of it, but they are not.

I suspect there's a correlation that's being overlooked. I suspect (but have no proof) that it's more a case of urban versus rural fear levels than it is political persuasion. COVID is having a devastating effect on urban areas, where social distancing is difficult to maintain and where population density makes transmission very effective. Additionally, stay-at-home orders in urban areas are more likely to be highly disruptive to every day life. For people in more rural settings, there's not as much social contact to begin with, and people tend to be more naturally isolated. It stands to reason that people in urban areas would have a higher level of fear and stress related to COVID than people in rural areas.

I think this is the more likely driver of the difference you're observing, with political preference being a correlated effect than a cause.

To some extent you're right--in the truly rural areas the transmission threat is low. However, that's not that many people. Most of the objectors have to be suburban reds.

Yup, because repeatedly calling it ‘hysteria’ makes the science go away.

I often end up classing outlying suburbia more with rural areas than with urban areas. Behaviorally, most suburbanites in the outlying MSA areas behave more like ruralites than like urbanites. They just have less distance to drive for groceries. But single family home, personal yard & outdoor space, home cooking, and church attendance all show up more frequently the further you get away from urban centers. I don't think there's a bright line divider when it comes to suburbia.

For example, I'm technically in a suburban portion of a relatively large urban center... but it's much more spread out, quiet, less traffic, more birds, etc. I have a strong dislike of cities and crowded areas that is pretty independent of my political views, but is likely to have a lot of correlation with conservatives. I definitely feel a lot less anxiety and concern than I would if I lived in a densely populated urban area.

I don't want science to go away. But science doesn't seem to have a cure for the hysteria that has gripped some people, it doesn't have an answer for the lives destroyed by this unnecessary lock down or a vaccine.

We have done our bit in most places, we have stayed home to prevent the health service from being overwhelmed.

People like an underdog who's constantly bullied and ridiculed.

Didn't you mean to say, '40% of Americans seem entranced by a sadistic bully who uses the coarsest and most personal insults, a petty, small-minded, immature individual who is the laughing stock of the world'? Otherwise, your statement would seem to lack surface reality.

You are saying insulting people is bad?

But, you guys insult Trump all the time! He gets insulted all the time, and then he insults people who insult him.

Trump is giving the media a taste of their own medicine.

The reason why people continue to doubt it is because the experts change their minds willy nilly.

First Fauci and the experts were saying it's no big deal and we could all go cruising if we want as late as March 9. Then they said "no wait social distancing!!" It's become a pop culture phrase now. "Please practice social distancing!!!" There are signs on all stores now who follow the media's dumb phrases. Seems like a method of brainwashing control. Use a slogan even during the pandemic.

Then they said we don't need to wear masks at first. They said masks don't do anything to slow the spread. Then they say, "No now it's mandatory for everyone to wear masks in public!!!" Whoops. Guess they messed that up. What happened to the previous month where no one was required to wear masks? How come the experts don't have to apologize for wasting over a month where no one had to wear masks nd could've spread it worse? The only person people expect to apologize is Trump. Everyone else can goof up all they want with no apologies. I never even heard Fauci apologize for saying we can all go party on cruise ships on March 9. Trump would've gotten crucified if he sai that on March 9.

Hearing experts flip-flop like this makes the average person think it's all being made up on the fly.

What nonsense. Telling the truth about Trump necessarily labels him, in plain English, as a liar, as a foul-mouthed "leader", as an immature, self-obsessed, and mentally unstable man. His language in office is disgraceful. As President-elect he pointed to a reporter and said, "You're a sleaze", knowing full well that the man could not and would not respond in kind. It's Trump who made son of a bitch, little shit, low IQ, and dumb as a rock Presidential language, and it was expressed knowingly, purposefully, and publicly. Perfectly unbelievable. In your version the big bad media shamed him first, so he's just responding in their style. And that's nonsense. He got off a boatload of lies before there was a general consensus in the media that commentators would start to refer to his lies as lies. I don't remember Chuck Todd responding to Trump calling him a "sleepy-eyed son of a bitch" with anything but a wry comment that he'd try to get more sleep. Trump uses his junior high cuss words not on people who name call him, but almost always on those who disagree with him.

They go out of business because of the pandemic, not because of 'unnecessary precautions'. You allow them to open and they go out of business anyway, but you make the pandemic worse.

Also, please give me more negative rep because you can't configure an argument. I've always considered that the first sign of an untenable position - and have never responded in kind.

That's why Biden is toast. He doesn't have the wit of Trump to insult him back. Trump will go on stage and say "Sleepy Joe" "Grandpa Joe" "Pedophile Joe" and Biden will have nothing to say. It's like people are scared to death of insulting Trump. It's funny.

Incidentally, this is how you quote people properly to highlight how completely full of shit they are. Just saying...

You realize that's been debunked, right? He never said the virus is a hoax. He said "The Democrats thinking this will bring me down is the hoax." Just like when Dems thought the Mueller report could bring him down. It didn't. The they thought impeachment would bring him down. It didn't. Now they think corona will bring him down. It won't.

Nevermind the fact that Governor Whitmer of Michigan is going so far with her fascist lockdown that she's facing protestors. Another Democrat bungling the job. Tucker Carlson was just skewering her on Fox News. He said, "She's upset about the protestors...who are protesting peacefully by the way which is their right under the Constitution...but she's too thin skinned to handle it. She kept the weed shops open! Fire up a bowl and deal with it!"

Well, if Tucker Carlson said it...

Actually they were blocking the ambulance entrance to the hospital and a couple cases of impeding ambulances in the streets. There were reports of protestors deliberately coughing onto hospital personnel as they walked into the buildings. That's an arrestable offense.

Tucker was explaining that in Michigan it's still legal to buy lottery and alcohol! Abortion is still legal! Guess what's baned? Joint replacement surgery. That's right. If you can't walk due to your joints grinding down to bone on bone, she says that is not essential.

What a boneheaded governor, seriously. Lottery and alcohol and abortion are essential though! Who voted for that moron?

Yes, grocery stores sell lottery and alcohol. Grocery stores are considered essential businesses. Abortion is not something you can put off and wait for later like a hip surgery can.

Keeping people out of hospitals full of CV 19 patients is a good thing, no?

That excuse doesn't work. She opened up some stores but said certain sections of the store can't be used, such as the carpet section. She could say, "grocery stores are open but lottery and alcohol sections are closed."

Very hypocritical, isn't it? She can close the carpet section of an opened store so you can't buy carpet, but she won't close the lottery and alcohol sections? Very braindead, huh?

And hip surgery is essential. People can't move without the surgery. She's telling those people to essentially f off. I bet if she needed a replacement, she'd get it right away though.

As I told you guys before, I have a friend who works at 711 and he said people come in at 2am for a bag of doritors and soda. That is not essential. People are abusing it. Just like going into a grocery store for a lottery ticket and a 6 pack is not essential. They shouldn't allow people to do that if it's such a pandemic.

Keeping people out of hospitals full of CV 19 patients is a good thing, no?
Is joint replacement surgey actually illegal, though?
Or are hospitals just choosing not to perform most elective surgery during a goddamned pandemic? Because if an American can trace his exposure to his time on the surgical floor, or recovery, a lawyer gets his wings...
