My housemate started having some cold symptoms at end of year (congestion, cough, no fever), not so much covid or flu like, but have heard the new variant can be like a cold, so she did get tested. It took 3 hours online to find a test for her, earliest could find was 3 days away, and then it took 3 days to get results, which were negative. Other times we've been tested, could get one within a day and get results in a day.

I now have started having the same symptoms, and after spending some fruitless time looking for a test, decided not to bother. It's probably the same virus, one of the less celebrated yeoman's coronaviruses, and so might as well not needlessly further tax the overburdened testing supply.

It's the only time I've been ill since 2020 when had covid, which she also brought into the home, but anything further to say on that topic should probably go into the rant thread. :p

this types of masks should already be banned. They are too easy to wear like that and don't work anymore. N95 should be mandated.

You can always tell if someone isn't taking the mask seriously when they have not pinched the top to fit the nose. If he has even worn that other than on his chin he has not pinched it at the nose.

When it comes to the anti-vaxxers, I'm in Emmanuel Macron's corner. The French president is so frustrated with these “irresponsible” refuseniks that he just wants to “piss them off” by making their lives so complicated they’d prefer to get vaccinated.

I am sick of hearing about the rights of — or alleged abuses suffered by — the 35 million Americans who haven't gotten vaccinated against COVID-19. I'm more concerned about the dangers they pose to the more than 200 million who have been vaccinated.

Yet cheap-seat politicians and some media are full of sympathy for the unvaccinated, threatened — supposedly — by the heavy hand of government.

Weldon’s death from COVID is just the latest instance of a far-right personality who opposed vaccination being killed by the virus....

I don't see anything complicated about it.

He's outdoors and not close to anybody. He doesn't need to wear it. But it's handy. If he goes indoors, or comes into contact with someone, it's right there at the ready.
I do that a lot. I put it on, but only put it in place when it's important.
