I think they should have charged some of the Proud Boys and their leadership with the same thing. They were using encrypted communication at some point, but a lot of their seditious talk and active support of violent insurrection was also going on in real time on Parler as they were doing it. Enrique Tarrio was linking quite a few threads and saying to go in and not give up. Threads he was linking were of Proud Boys committing crimes. I don't see how that can't all be evidence of seditious conspiracy especially when in context of planning to show up with weapons and act out.

Of course it is. We just have to trust that more charges are coming. This really is an enormous case.

I fear that Garland is such a stickler for process that he will fritter away the window of opportunity trying to be 100% correct at every turn.

I sincerely do not believe that Trump will be re-elected. I seriously doubt he will run. From what I hear, his health continues to decline and so do the number and fervor of his followers. Wide speculation that he's only dangling his 'campaign' for the grift.

In making the decision to run, Trump will not take his declining health into account, he will the issue away by fervent denial--unless dementia changes his personality drastically--which, I have heard, sometimes happens before the descent into obvious and continuous incoherence.

Partially, it depends on how the sedition trials go. And who else gets arrested. Also: Mitch McConnell, reportedly on the outs with Trump, is also perhaps not terribly well. He's getting up there in years and frankly, he looks awful.

I sincerely hope that’s right. I’d like nothing better than seeing goobernor death sentence bungle a Presidential campaign and lose the Presidency and both houses of Congress (for real this time- a majority without the DINOs).

But if ANY trumpsucker gets the presidency, all the 1/6 traitors will have government jobs, cabinet positions etc. and it is unlikely that there will ever again be free and fair elections.

It's certainly true that Trump is only in it for the grift. His "loved ones" have probably suffered all the embarrassment and "public service" they can.

Good news is that Trump cares nothing about policy, service or the GOP. He's happy to see the GOP lose since that leads to MORE donations to his grifts, and more T-shirt sales for Junior. Growing older and increasingly incontinent, Trump may be an ASSET for the Democrats in upcoming elections.

But I'm not optimistic. If DeSantis or Tucker Carlson gets the nod they'll run — and win — on Trump's Stop-the-Steal agenda and America's 230-year experiment in democracy will be finished.

My own guess is that Nikki Haley will win the nomination and the Presidency. Haley is a right-winger and seems to support voter suppression, but so far she doesn't seem to be a hate-crazed Stop-the-Steal enthusiast.

Haley, arguing against the impeachment of Trump on Fox News, did allow that Jan. 6 was a “tough day” and that Trump’s actions since the election were “not his finest.”

That’s incredibly mild to begin with. But Haley continued: “Does he deserve to be impeached? Absolutely not.”
“I don’t even think there’s a basis for impeachment,” Haley said, adding: “They beat him up before he got into office. They’re beating him up after he leaves office. At some point, I mean, give the man a break!"

As she prepares to throw her hat in the ring, I assume she'll move more and more to the Trump camp, and away from her liberal sympathies for minorities.

I think that Nikki Haley has a reasonable chance to win the nomination. I don't see DeSantis or Tucker Carlson (?????omg just no) winning the nomination or the election.

If Nikki gets the nomination I think she'll be a big favorite to win in November. (An all-female final is likely; can Harris beat Haley?)

Nikki Haley may be a good-spirited pro-human person — though she is a strong proponent of suppressing black votes — but I'm afraid any instincts for good will be overriden. QOPAnon will soar to power on her coat-tails, and having tasted the delights of malicious power they will bring down American democracy.

ETA: Earlier I mentioned the Betfair prediction market. That same market shows the GOP as almost 90% to win the House of Reps in 2022. They are also predicted to gain 1 or more seats in the Senate.

In case anyone missed it, on Thursday night Tucker Carlson had one of these 11 folks as a special guest on his show.

Were there tough questions? No. The segment started with Tucker recounting the man's veteran status, continued with him allowing the seditious person to play an entire deck of victim cards, and ended with Carlson thanking him for taking the time to appear on his show.

He gave a person charged with attempting to overthrow the US government an entire segment of his very highly rated air time, and never said anything but a kind word or even attempted to ask "so was this a bad idea?"
