It’s not her looks, it’s the acting.
She’s a good looking woman, esp for her age. But those contorted facial expressions and gestures distracted from the speech - and Joe doesn’t need additional distractions to keep people from paying attention. I’m sure she thought she was helping.

Like blastula I thought the content was good - even excellent. Too bad about the delivery.

Fair enough. I actually didn't notice Nancy at all because I was distracted by Kamala seeing me through the screen.

Edit: funny side story about Nancy. When she was doing some ceremony just after the inauguration bestowing something or other on Biden and Harris, she gave a short speech, but near the end, she kind of stammered like she forgot what she was supposed to say next but then she blurted out, "And liberty and justice for all!" to finish her speech. Everyone has their moments.

That was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Yet no one else seemed to have noticed or cared when I told them! It still cracks me to think about it. "And liberty and justice for all!" is now my go-to whenever I'm caught awkwardly not knowing what to say.

Boebert’s heckling was pathetic. Seriously does she blame every. President for every military casualty? What did she expect? Far more servicemen were killed in Afghanistan during Trump’s presidency, not that I blame him.

does she blame W for 9/11? If not, why blame Biden for the loss of thirteen in a terrible attack by ISIS? What exactly did Biden do or fail to do?

Yeah, that was really bizarre. I was wondering if she had some medical issues with her hands that I hadn't heard about. She also had this weird smile on her face most of the time. Reminded me a puppet or ventriloquist dummy or something.

Yeah, that still shot captures it as I recall it. I sincerely hope she is embarrassed as all hell watching the replay, and will undertake to make sure she doesn't put on a spectacle like that again in the future.

That was only one factor that took the air out of what I though could have been a really powerful speech.

I, on the other hand, once made Cup O' Noodles in the barracks using water i heated in the steam chamber of a clothes iron. I judge you as rising to a challenge with the tools at hand.

Maybe I was sleepy when I watched the speech because I really didn't even notice a thing that Pelosi or Harris were doing. I thought the speech was good, and Biden's delivery has never bothered me. He only fucked up a few words, no biggie, or is it bigly? I agree with Rhea that his eyes were awfully squinty. I though maybe it was the light was too bright. Who knows! Maybe he should have worn his Aviator glasses.

I read an article a few days ago that claimed that many people are far more productive in their 70s and 80s than at any other time in their lives. I think Biden qualifies for that. I just can't imagine having to deal with all of the problems, and unjustified criticism he receives from both sides of the aisle. I'm 7 years younger than him and I can't even begin to imagine having thtat much energy.

Unlike Trump, he doesn't stay in bed all day eating Kentucky Fried children and McDonald's burgers, or is it Burger King?

Biden gets a bounce after the State of the Union, NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll shows

After Tuesday's speech, the president saw a significant jump with Democrats and independents, as he may be seeing a rally-around-the-Ukrainian-flag moment.

He got an 8-point bounce, which is rare. Also surprising since his SOTU snap reaction poll numbers weren't that great compared to the usual numbers for that speech. He got better numbers in his congressional address last April.
