Expelling all illegals is not feasible, but we should make it easier to deport illegals, not harder. Asylum system needs fundamental overhaul as it now facilitates wholesale mass migration of people with no real claim to asylum. The goal is to get in and then avoid deportation until given amnesty from deportation.

Maybe the Democrats and Republicans should get together and work on a border security bill. I think that effort would have a lot of promise.

Not really. Threats don't force anything.

They caused the closures; But that's just a reflection on the cowardice of those who capitulated.

Allowing terrorists to win on the basis of mere threats is foolish, as it just enables and encourages more of the same - the barrier to becoming a terrorist is effectively nonexistent when they don't need to actually make or plant any bombs, and can instead disrupt the lives of their victims with mere words.

It's a LOT easier to obtain an anonymous email account than it is to obtain explosives, make them into a bomb, and then plant that bomb at your target's location.

Ever since we allowed Bin Laden to force us all to take our shoes off at the airport, we seem to have been bending over backwards to make terrorism easier and more effective than it ought to be.

The appropriate response to bomb threats, as a member of the public, is to ignore them completely, and go about our lives as though no threat existed, at least until such time as law enforcement authorities have shown the threat to be highly credible.

I don't agree fully. This is a scenario where the consequences of a false negative are much worse than a false positive. Yes, you can't just automatically evacuate for every single threat, but the criteria shouldn't be that the threat needs to be highly credible. If there is at least a 5% or so chance it could be real, then I think evacuation would be appropriate.

At least our Republican SOS has put out the word that this is all fake news, likely started by Russian trolls. He also wrote an excellent editorial in the AJC a few days ago about how well voting is going in Georgia and how there is no evidence of fraud etc. Although I doubt he will admit it because he probably wants to run for governor in the future, I would be surprised if he hasn't voted for Harris.
