Harris will likely win

Arnie Schwarzenegger has now endorsed our gal.
Gal?

Probably Arnie saw a kindred spirt in Kamala's S.O. Cheating on your wife with the hired help and getting them pregnant brings men together.
I'm not impressed that the Kindergarten Cop is standing up for reality.

But I don't care if he calls her gal or cunt or Madame.
Tom
I think you misread. Arnie's not calling her "gal", starwater is.
Yes my bad.

Gal is an informal way to refer to a female. It is the equivalent of the word guy being used to refer to a male.

I often use the word gal but not as often as I use the word guy. As a feminist who believes equality is a good thing, I suppose I should use it much more frequently.

I thought the GOP had gone beyond that, to a conservative rallying cry of 'if you aren't cheating, you aren't trying'. They certainly are using state legislatives to make certifying the election, once a mere formality, as difficult as possible.

Barring something drastic happening, I think it will be a big win for Harris.
Yeah, and then trump will try to steal it.

Doesn't necessarily mean he will succeed. He also tried before and failed.
But this time, he has a much more sophisticated and detailed game plan. They’ve been planning this for four years.
Yes, but he still can fail. I don't know how exactly, just saying it can happen lol.

They tried that in Georgia, but I'm. happy to say the the Georgia Supreme Court overruled them and our Republican SOS criticized them for their attempts to cheat. The lies are flying about fraud but Brad R keeps telling voters that the voting is going well and there is no evidence of fraud.

Well, that's not exactly how I remember it from my younger days, but word meanings do change over time, so what do I know? I recall back in the early/mid-80's my sister (a young pharmacist at the time) complaining about sexism at a conference for pharmacists (populated mostly by men). When I asked her for specifics, she said one of the male pharmacists mentioned something about how his "gal" (meaning his assistant) can provide the information for the group. Or something to that effect. But it was definitely about the use of the word "gal".

At any rate, I don't think VP (and perhaps future POTUS) Harris would approve of the reference, despite your protest otherwise:

NY Times reports show Harris critiqued intelligence reports for how they described female leaders

The New York Times reported on Friday that Vice President Kamala Harris critiqued intelligence reports for how they described female leaders of other countries.

"Ms. Harris, the first woman to hold her office, ordered up a review that scrutinized multiple years of briefing reports from various intelligence agencies, looking for possible gender bias," the authors wrote in the Times.

Harris' attention to the briefing reports stemmed from her being "struck by the way two foreign leaders were described."

After officials scrutinized the reports, they found "some questionable word choices but no widespread pattern," the Times reported, citing a senior intelligence official who requested anonymity to discuss the review.

Intelligence officials were prompted to add "a new training class for analysts on how to judge and assess female foreign leaders," the Times wrote.

More specifically, the Times reported that the "class now teaches intelligence analysts how to better assess the context in which women leaders operate and the possible impact of gender on their career paths, decision-making and policy choices, according to a U.S. official."

"The episode proved to be a preview of Ms. Harris’s priorities. The vice president put questions about gender and race at the center of many of the policy discussions in her office, aides and former administration officials said," the Times reported.

The law is harder now. And while Project 2025 exists, he needs the entire GOP to be complicit with straling the election.

Oh, well, if they were criticized, I'm sure they won't do it again. :rolleyesa:

The whole problem with Trumpism is that the system is trying to shame people who are shameless.

We don't need the courts to criticize the people who are trying to win by cheating; We need the courts to jail them.

Northwestern's model is showing a massive swing, to the point the volatility makes me discard it. But some are looking to it and Harris has a 300+ count in the EV. Keep in mind a week or so ago, this model had Trump at over 360 EVs which seemed utterly impossible.

I seriously doubt that reports used the terms "guy" or "gal". There are myriads of ways reports can use biased language.

No matter how hard you try, the use of "gal" for a woman has always been the equivalent of the use of "guy" for a man. The difference historically is that women in the workplace were generally subordinate in rank, gviewed as inferior and routinely demeaned in general.

From Dictionary.com. <--- that is how I always understood the term "gal".

I never claimed the word "gal" was in the intel reports. In fact I'm virtually certain it wasn't. I was merely pointing out that Kamala is showing herself as being concerned about sexist language in general, and "gal" is likely a word that Kamala would object to, particularly coming from someone she doesn't know.

And where am I "trying hard" to deny its the equivalent of the use of "guy" for a man? See the bolded line above. I was merely relating an anecdote from my younger days, but acknowleged that words change and I said "what do I know?" implying I'm not any kind of authority on the word. Sheesh. I think you're just determined to find fault in anything I say, even at the risk of putting your own foot in your mouth.

You’ve used a lot of words in this thread to defend your passive aggressive criticism. Your first paragraph in your response rebuts your second paragraph.

I am more hopeful than optimistic.
Wish it was otherwise; not much chance that all the anxiety about it is gonna go away any time soon.
Nazis make me uncomfortable.

Let me clarify. The SOS put out a lot of information regarding what they were trying to do was wrong. They wanted to change the rules, but were unable to do it because the state Supreme Supreme Court told them it was illegal. If they do or did carry out their plans, hopefully they will be charged. At least our Republican SOS and courts are doing as much as possible to keep these assholes from making it difficult to certify the election etc.

I don't know what's going on in other states, but apparently there is a lot of mischief happening in NC, where assholes are trying to scare and threaten voters, according to the evening news. I have no idea if anyone has been arrested yet, but so far, Georgia's election has been running quite smoothly afaik. It was extremely well run in my county during early voting.
