Gal is an informal way to refer to a female. It is the equivalent of the word guy being used to refer to a male.
I often use the word gal but not as often as I use the word guy. As a feminist who believes equality is a good thing, I suppose I should use it much more frequently.
I thought the GOP had gone beyond that, to a conservative rallying cry of 'if you aren't cheating, you aren't trying'. They certainly are using state legislatives to make certifying the election, once a mere formality, as difficult as possible.

They tried that in Georgia, but I'm. happy to say the the Georgia Supreme Court overruled them and our Republican SOS criticized them for their attempts to cheat. The lies are flying about fraud but Brad R keeps telling voters that the voting is going well and there is no evidence of fraud.

Well, that's not exactly how I remember it from my younger days, but word meanings do change over time, so what do I know? I recall back in the early/mid-80's my sister (a young pharmacist at the time) complaining about sexism at a conference for pharmacists (populated mostly by men). When I asked her for specifics, she said one of the male pharmacists mentioned something about how his "gal" (meaning his assistant) can provide the information for the group. Northwestern's model is showing a massive swing, to the point the volatility makes me discard it. But some are looking to it and Harris has a 300+ count in the EV. Keep in mind a week or so ago, this model had Trump at over 360 EVs which seemed utterly impossible.

I seriously doubt that reports used the terms "guy" or "gal". There are myriads of ways reports can use biased language.
No matter how hard you try, the use of "gal" for a woman has always been the equivalent of the use of "guy" for a man. The difference historically is that women in the workplace were generally subordinate in rank, gviewed as inferior and routinely demeaned in general.

I never claimed the word "gal" was in the intel reports. In fact I'm virtually certain it wasn't. I was merely pointing out that Kamala is showing herself as being concerned about sexist language in general, and "gal" is likely a word that Kamala would object to, particularly coming from someone she doesn't know.
And where am I "trying hard" to deny its the equivalent of the use of "guy" for a man? See the bolded line above. I was merely relating an anecdote from my younger days, but acknowleged that words change and I said "what do I know?" implying I'm not any kind of authority on the word. Sheesh. I think you're just determined to find fault in anything I say, even at the risk of putting your own foot in your mouth.

Let me clarify. The SOS put out a lot of information regarding what they were trying to do was wrong. They wanted to change the rules, but were unable to do it because the state Supreme Supreme Court told them it was illegal. If they do or did carry out their plans, hopefully they will be charged. At least our Republican SOS and courts are doing as much as possible to keep these assholes from making it difficult to certify the election etc.Oh, well, if they were criticized, I'm sure they won't do it again.

I don't know what's going on in other states, but apparently there is a lot of mischief happening in NC, where assholes are trying to scare and threaten voters, according to the evening news. I have no idea if anyone has been arrested yet, but so far, Georgia's election has been running quite smoothly afaik. It was extremely well run in my county during early voting.
