California Doing California Things

I also couldn’t find a reference to $0.65 but saw this:

In September of last year, CARB estimated the now-passed regulations could raise gas prices by 47 cents per gallon, but CARB officials no longer believe that the prices will rise quite that high, however.

So, more like $0.47 and that was last year’s estimate, which is likely too high.

Sure, there are different amounts mentioned but I did say estimated.

A $.47 per gallon increase will be crippling for an awful lot of people. It is entirely unnecessary and is an abuse of motorists.

Ok. I thought you were getting that number from the article you linked. I don’t know on what basis you estimated 65cents.

well, I guess we will see if it really does reach 47 cents as the article is saying that that number is last years estimate and morerecent thinking is that it won’t be that high. At least according to the article you linked.

Now that Trump is going to be President we should see the gas prices drop enough to compensate this increase, yes?

All I see is people whining about the price of fuel while sitting theirs cars on the 405 going nowhere.

If people are on the 405 they have to be going somewhere. Nobody goes on the 405 to go nowhere.

Did you know that building wider roads never help the traffic problem?

It has certainly helped in some parts of LA County and Orange County.
America went the wrong way 70 years ago.
Instead of whining, elect people that will build a mass transit system that works.

Not suitable in Los Angeles. We have some mass transit but the "homeless" use it for shelter and make it dangerous for others to use. Besides, I prefer the comfort of my own car. We need to vote these climate cultists out.

We shall see. Insufferable prick Gavin Newsom has already had an emergency session with the legislature to "Trump proof California".

Still, the people of California have brought much of this on themselves when they voted to increase gas taxes a few years ago. Or maybe they were tricked into it with the usual bait and switch wording on the ballot. But this latest increase will come about through an unelected board of climate zealots.

Shit. Gas prices raised in one day here 30 cents a gallon. Cry more.

Happens here every weekend. Thursday afternoon the prices jump 30 to 40 cents/gal. then they slowly come back down throughout the next week. Rarely do they ever come down to the original price but over time they do come back down.

Insufferable prick Gavin Newsom is an incompetent, dangerous moron.

Many California business owners are shocked by payroll tax increases incurred by the state’s $55 billion COVID-19 pandemic-era unemployment and payroll benefits fraud – which is more than NASA's annual budget – incurred from automatically approving applications.
States that do not pay off unemployment benefit loans from the federal government, as California and a handful of other states have done since the pandemic, automatically are subject to rapidly increasing federal payroll tax increases until the debt is paid off. Chef Andrew Gruel, who owns and runs Calico Fish House in Huntington Beach, took to X to explain his recent experience paying his workers in a post that has since garnered over 16 million views. “We just ran payroll. The payroll taxes were 2K higher than calculated. We called the payroll company,” said Gruel. “They explained (in summary) that California has a budget shortfall, and the federal government wants money back that it lent California for UI that it 'lost.' They are making up for it by having business owners pay it.” While the state was responsible for the management of lockdown-era unemployment benefits, business owners are footing the bill.

Build better transit? Nah. Just elect the Christianists (Vance, Thiel, and the TheoBros), repeal the 19th Amendment, and make America white again (non whites and non Christians can be tolerated but only if they fully assimilate to WASP and keep their heads down). That will make america great again.

For fuck sake. Read what Brian Suave, Andrew Isker, JD Vance, Peter Thiel, et al. have written and said. They have said that we currently live in a dystopia where women voting, women holding office, women working professional jobs, same sex marriage...any personal liberty outside of fundamentalist protest Christian Dominion is an anathema to God's Kingdom. Gilead of Atwood's Handmaids Tail is literally their desired utopia. More than one of them have even argued that childless people of child bearing age should be serving people with children to help build up the kingdom.

But lets ignore that and keep bitching about Gavin while supporting Vance, Hegseth, Musk, Thiel, ...

Republicans are a miracle. How can they be so tone deaf and brain-dead, yet continue to eat and breathe?
