Remember, you're comparing modern S-400s to pretty old Patriots. US weapons are tricky that way--we retain names over a wide range of evolution. A 2020-era Sidewinder is nothing like a 1970-era Sidewinder but both are still "Sidewinder". And everybody overhypes missiles, reporting ideal performance conditions vs real world performance.

And I would be surprised if any realistic comparison is actually available to the public. Washington isn't going to want to admit what it knows about the performance of the S-400, Moscow isn't going to want to admit what they know about the performance of the Patriot. Thus anybody who knows is in a position they can't talk about it.
