Marco Rubio is a bit of a spineless hack with questionable policy positions but he’s a reasonably serious candidate for Secretary of State.

Jared Isaacman for NASA is basically a friend of Elon Musk who may well funnel all contracts to SpaceX but he’s a serious space enthusiast who has helped develop space travel with Elon.
 
During Trump One, as Repub after Repub rescinded what they had said about Trump in 2015 and early 2016, I used to marvel that there could be so many national figures who would throw away their claim to judgment, respectability, and morality, and follow this revolting man. Lindsey Graham led the parade at that point ("You want to make America great again? Tell Donald Trump to go to hell!") And Ted Cruz, after the personal attacks Trump launched against Cruz's father and wife, real lows in American political history. But Trump One also had people of integrity who had gotten through the door and were on the WH payroll, who tempered some of Trump's darkest and most insane impulses. It's clear that the phenom of the Trump Tamer will never recur. We are going to see genuine cultists running the country, men (mostly men) without a shred of independent judgment or integrity, and we are going to see Trump's most ignorant and destructive impulses carried out and put on the nation's ledger.

Thanks Trump voters for welcoming back polio, assuming the Rs in the Senate are stupid enough to approve of RFKjr. position. I'm old enough to remember the. joy that we felt when the polio vaccine was approved. In fact, public health nurses came to my school to administer it and nobody had a single side effect. WTF did that brain worn do to this crazy man? I even worked with a. nurse who had recovered from polio but had a severe limp and had to wear a leg brace.

The lawyer helping Robert F. Kennedy Jr. pick federal health officials for the incoming Trump administration has petitioned the government to revoke its approval of the polio vaccine, which for decades has protected millions of people from a virus that can cause paralysis or death.

That campaign is just one front in the war that the lawyer, Aaron Siri, is waging against vaccines of all kinds.

Mr. Siri has also filed a petition seeking to pause the distribution of 13 other vaccines; challenged, and in some cases quashed, Covid vaccine mandates around the country; sued federal agencies for the disclosure of records related to vaccine approvals; and subjected prominent vaccine scientists to grueling videotaped depositions.

Much of Mr. Siri’s work — including the polio petition filed in 2022 — has been on behalf of the Informed Consent Action Network, a nonprofit whose founder is a close ally of Mr. Kennedy. Mr. Siri also represented Mr. Kennedy during his presidential campaign.

I always thought "the deep state", was defined as a cabal of elitist cunts who dictated policy solely to further their own selfish interests. By that measurement, Trump's incoming cabinet will be the most deep state in history.

Trump brought Steve Bannon into the WH as his 'chief strategist' in January 2017. Less than 7 months later, Bannon was gone. Elon presents Trump with a much, much bigger camera hog, and, admittedly, a figure with oceans more $$$ than Bannon could wave around. It will be quite a spectacle to see these two circle each other, issuing compliments and ego strokes while each one fancies himself as God's most miraculous creation. (Or God. Who knows the extent of the sickness?) It will rival the irresistible force/immovable object paradox. How do the world's two most inflated egos share the same space in government, pop culture, and news coverage? What happens when Elon makes a call that Trump thinks will cost him with the MAGA yahoos? Or -- who knows, anything is possible in this psychotathon -- if Trump thinks that Elon is becoming a bigger hero in MAGAworld? I'd love to see a major bitchfest between these two divas. I can't believe they'll be harmonizing for long. (And imagine poor little Mikey Johnson if Elongated Muskrat and The Asshole are giving him contradictory orders. He'll have to pray himself through that one.)
