Not their style. They experimented with "funding" some parties in the Western Europe (Italy France and Austria I remember) in the past, but it was long time ago. And it was public and legal.
In case of the west it is not even open secret that they hunt and pay/fund all these "opposition" members. It was a business model for these people. Until Russian Government made it practically illegal. Then people tried to hide/obfuscate using "private donations". Eventualy government basically said we are tired and from now on going to assume that all money which come from the west are bad. In theory it is not illegal but in practice it makes life in Russia for these people very hard.

The official USSR admitted this after Stalin had died. Even Molotov said "We would have been complete idiots if we had taken the reports at their face value. We were not idiots."
The Purges did great harm to Soviet society and military. They were a major factor of why the Red Army almost collapsed in 1941.
But it is no wonder our resident Rushist looks them as necessary and justified.
