Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is facing counteraction from a voting rights organization after ordering his office to execute search warrants on Democratic candidates and election volunteers for what he claims is part of an “election integrity” investigation.

Last week, Paxton’s Election Integrity Unit raided the homes of several people in Southern Texas, including some residents in their 80s, claiming it was part of a sprawling investigation into allegations of “vote harvesting” and “election fraud” that he says happened during the 2022 election.


Phones, laptops and documents were collected from individuals’ homes, leaving some shaken.

Now, the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), one of the oldest and largest Latino rights organizations in the country, has asked the Department of Justice to investigate Paxton’s raids.


“Paxton is working to suppress the Latino vote using a call for election integrity as a veil for voter intimidation,” Roman Palomares, the president of LULAC said in a press conference on Monday.

The raids, while allegedly part of a two-year-long election integrity investigation, targeted residents like Lydia Martinez, an 87-year-old retired educator living in San Antonio who works in the community to help older residents stay engaged in politics.

Martinez has been a member of LULAC for 35 years and is certified by the state to register voters, Palomares said.

Officers went to Martinez’s home at 6 a.m. last Tuesday with a search warrant, demanding she hand over voter cards that she did not possess, rifling through her belongings and eventually confiscating her laptop and cell phone. Officers interrogated her for three hours.

A similar raid was carried out on the home of Cecilia Castellano, a Democrat running for a Texas House seat.

NEW YORK (AP) — Rudolph Giuliani, the former New York City mayor, federal prosecutor and legal adviser to Donald Trump, was disbarred in New York on Tuesday after a court found he repeatedly made false statements about Trump’s 2020 election loss.

The Manhattan appeals court ruled Giuliani, who had his New York law license suspended in 2021 for making false statements around the election, is no longer allowed to practice law in the state, effective immediately.

“The seriousness of respondent’s misconduct cannot be overstated,” the decision reads. Giuliani “flagrantly misused” his position and “baselessly attacked and undermined the integrity of this country’s electoral process.”

“In so doing, respondent not only deliberately violated some of the most fundamental tenets of the legal profession, but he also actively contributed to the national strife that has followed the 2020 Presidential election, for which he is entirely unrepentant,” the court wrote.

The two went to court to seize assets including condos and luxury watches to help them collect on a $148m defamation judgement.

Two US election workers who successfully sued Rudy Giuliani for over $140m (£106m) for defamation have asked a court to seize some of his assets.

Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss have filed a court order asking the former New York City mayor to relinquish multiple properties, dozens of luxury watches, a Mercedes-Benz and other personal items in the next seven days.

Mr Giuliani falsely accused the pair of tampering with votes during the 2020 election.

In July, a federal judge dismissed a bankruptcy case by Mr Giuliani, leaving Trump's former lawyer without protection from his creditors.

Ms Freeman and Ms Moss are now asking for Mr Giuliani's condo in New York, worth an estimated $6m, according to CNN, and his condo in Palm Beach, Florida, worth an estimated $3.5m.

They are also seeking three of his New York Yankees World Series rings, one of which is valued at roughly $30,000.

Lawyers for the two said if Mr Giuliani does not meet their requests in a timely manner, they will seek other remedies.

It's just possible that there is a MAGA-besotted right wing judge somewhere that the guy happens to know in Texas. Such a judge would look for evidence that the target of the investigation is Latino or a Democrat or worse--both.

White nationalist Nick Fuentes blasted Trump Sept. 4 for admitting that he lost the 2020 election, and said that he will work to get voters not to back Trump.

"So, why did we do Stop the Steal? Why did did anyone go to Jan. 6? Why did any one go to jail? ... It would have been good to know that before 1,600 people got charged," Fuentes said on his podcast, referring to the criminal charges for those who invaded and ransacked the Capitol. "It would’ve been good to know that before (I) had all my money frozen, put on a no-fly list, banned from everything, lost all my bank and payment processing.”

Fuentes, a podcaster and Holocaust denier who dined with Trump and the notorious rapper Ye at Mar-a-Lago property in Palm Beach, Fla., in 2022 went on to call it a "tremendous betrayal" and "callus indifference to the sacrifices that his supporters made on his behalf."

Orange Beast is making the same noises at this month's rallies that he made all through 2020 -- and for the same reason: he can't be pleased with what his pollsters (dare to) tell him.
"Our primary focus is to make sure they don't cheat -- 'cause we have all the votes we need."
"If they can't cheat, I won't have to campaign at all, because I'll win so big."
Trump voters don't deserve to live in a democracy. They want an autocrat who commits endless election fraud -- they deserve him. Hopefully there's a majority that will retire him on 11/5.

This story came up on my feed on Linked in from UMass Amherst. UMass researchers were skeptical about some claims being made by META. It appears that META had previously funded a study to show that they effectively filter out unreliable news during the election. It appears that META didn't tell the research group that analyzed the news on META that during the study META turned on additional algorithm to suppress unreliable news but after the study they turned it off again.

The study done recently by UMass shows that Meta used the study that they paid for to continue to claim that their algorithms continue to suppress unreliable news on the election. But never said that they had stopped suppressing unreliable news.

Apparently META touted the findings but never told anyone that the additional algorithm to suppress unreliable news had been turned off again.

Jack Smith's latest brief paints even more damning picture of Trump in 2020.

Prosecutors allege they have a witness who will testify that Trump told family members, “It doesn’t matter if you won or lost the election. You still have to fight like hell.”

The witness, Smith’s team said in the filing, will testify that he was aboard Marine One when then-President Trump made the statement to his wife, Melania Trump, his daughter Ivanka Trump, and his son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Prosecutors did not name the official in the filing, but they said he was the director of Oval Office operations. “He witnessed an unprompted comment that the defendant made to his family members in which the defendant suggested that he would fight to remain in power regardless of whether he had won the election,” prosecutors wrote.

Trump lost, Trump knows he lost. Trump tried to seize the election. The GOP continues enabling this wannabe tyrant.
