2026 Mid-Term Elections

Yeah, there’s more than one person who has won a nomination from their state’s Democratic Party that I’m glad I don’t have to vote for. My state may end up doing the same. I sincerely hope not. I really really really hate saying fuck under my breath as I mark the ballot.

It helps if you pretend "Fucking" is their middle name.

Well, pretty often, fucking is the issue...

Again and again the bad-faith fascist will bring up "both sides" and refuse to put them on a balance against one another.
Again and again the bad-faith leftist will call everyone they disagree with a "fascist".

It's kind of like during Weimar Germany where the Communist Party (KPD) dismissed even left-of-center Social Democrats (SPD) as "social fascists" and therefore enemies.

Anybody in particular?

On a related note, what do you think of SS-Unterscharführer Graham Platner?

I haven't read in detail any of the allegations. I'm assuming that there is more than just a hint of truth about at least some of them. A lot of people are bad at relationships and break ups. But yeah, I'm assuming he's an asshole and quite probably an abusive asshole and it's a fucking shame that they couldn't come up with someone better to run against Collins who only knows how to get any attention by pretending that she's going to side with Democrats until she gets the right amount of under the table bribe.*

*No, I have zero information that indicates she's taking bribes. But it sure as shit looks like she's holding out for a bribe.

**I'm sorry but it's going to be pretty close to impossible for me to avoid using the word fuck at least once in any post or comment about politics for the foreseeable future. Shit is also likely to feature heavily and I'm sure whatever other bad words leap from my brain past any filter remaining and straight to the keyboard. Yes, I am aware that swearing is not indicative of deep thinking or carefully crafted arguments. So fucking what.

How fascist do fascists need to be before they can justifiably be labeled as fascists?
Fascist enough to rise to the statement?

Like, just responding is in part a tacit admission that he satisfies the definition in the post he is commenting on, and that he IS in fact doing a "'both sides', while refusing to put the sides on balance against one another".

Well, I guess my work here is done for now!

Swearing is indicative that someone in the argument is abandoning the principles of logical and rational reasoning in favor of emotion and rhetoric.

I'll leave it to most readers to figure out where the failure lives in this failure of logic and rational reasoning.

Platner freely admits he did some bad things after he returned from the war. PTSD and alcoholism isn't a good combination.

He was on the Chris Hayes show this past week.

Yeah yeah: I get it. Truly.

But I am so fucking tired of forgiving men all sorts of misogyny and worse and then hearing Hillary’s Emaiks! Kamala’s laugh!

It is just hard to take.

The problem is that all things related to reason were abandoned in the US in 2016.

Sometimes swearing is the best option to adequately describe a situation.

Or maybe they just want to fucking stress how goddamned serious they are to those cunts who are not paying enough bloody attention.

Or maybe they are just Australian ;)

My point, for everyone not paying enough fucking attention, is that sometimes the people abandoning rational reasoning are the ones being sworn at, because at some point there's nothing more that can be done..

No, just calling you out on your bullshit.

Of course there are problem on both sides of the ideological spectrum.
while refusing to put the sides on balance against one another".
I do put them on a balance. That's why I have usually voted for Democratic candidates as the "lesser weevils".
But that is getting increasingly difficult as extremist become more prominent in the Democratic Party. Just look at Adam Hamawy and how many Dems have ignored his association with islamofascist terrorists.

No matter what you may choose to call me, if a DSA/Hasan Piker type candidate emerges as the 2028 Dem nominee, I will not be able to vote for him or her.

But note, even if somebody does not "put the sides on balance", that does not make that person "fascist" in any way. It is not one of the tenets of fascism.

Both articles have "retirement curves", how many incumbent Congressmembers announced their retirement in each month before the general election. They usually start announcing around two years before the general election and they continue to around six months before, like now. So there might be one more in the House, but that's about it.

The numbers? 68 Reps and 11 Senators, above previous years.

House: D 22, R 36
  • Retiring: D 15, R 16
    • Left early, resigning: D 7, R 5 (Died D 4, R 1)
  • Seeking other offices: D 7, R 20
    • Senate: D 7, R 9
    • Governor: R 10
    • Atty Gnrl: R 1
Senate: D 4, R 7
  • Retiring: D 4, R 6
    • Left early, resigning: R 3 (VP 1, Cabinet 2)
  • Seeking other offices: R 1
    • Governor: R 1

No matter his excuses, the question is this: out of the whole state of Maine, is that really the best the Democratic Party could come up with?

He ticks all the boxes valued by the typical left-wing Democrat, including hatred of Israel, and that covers a multitude of sins.
and then hearing Hillary’s Emaiks!
Her using a home-brew mail server and her dismissive comments about it were certainly not signs of good judgment. But her damn emails were among the least of the problems of her campaign. DNC should have encouraged a more open nominating process in 2016 instead of closing ranks around "Planet Hillary", as NYT described her.
Kamala’s laugh!
Again, about the least of her problems.
She was just a poor candidate. In the 2020 cycle, she showed very poor judgment (bussing, banning fracking) and money management (she ran out of money before January, despite an early fundraising advantage).
In 2024, she was imposed onto the electorate without so much as a blitz primary. And she continued her series of poor decisions, like focusing on vibes and memes (coconut tree, Kamala is brat, etc.) And when she eventually started talking policy, her ideas were not that innovative either.
It is just hard to take.
I think DNC should care more about who is a good candidate rather than whose turn it is or what their skin color and genitalia are. Especially the nomination of Kamala Harris was handled very poorly, and led to her defeat.

You really think the party chooses those people? Do you really want to go back to the days when candidates were chosen by the party bigwigs in smokey back rooms?

What makes you think he hates Israel? Disagreement with their government does not equal Israel hatred. It's amazing how you get that wrong so often.
