El Sayed, if elected will be one of the smarted, most highly educated members of the Senate, and most of the BS that has been said about him were lies cooked up by the Repugs.

Abdul El-Sayed was inspired to consider a career in politics after Bill Clinton, who was delivering a commencement address at the University of Michigan, told him he had a natural gift for speaking and encouraged him to consider politics over medicine. El-Sayed went on to get his medical degree and ran unsuccessfully for governor of Michigan against Gretchen Whitmer in 2018 before winning the Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate race in the 2026 midterm elections.

Abdul El-Sayed served as Detroit’s health director from 2015 to 2017 and was named Wayne county’s health director in late 2022. He implemented programs for underserved communities, including providing glasses for children and placing Narcan in vending machines.
