Okay, not exactly Trump, but his followers.
Trump has no money. His campaign is forced into austerity measures. Some states, he just cannot advertise in because local stations demand the money up front.
So, my uncle is complaining that he sees Biden commercials all goddamned day long, sometimes two in the same commercial break, but the liberal media won't even run ONE Trump ad for our President.

I don't suppose he understands that advertising is not free and that since Trump's Presidency has been such a disaster he is very low on campaign funds. Besides, Trump keeps illegally turning WH speeches into campaign events.

I thought that earlier this year, Trump campaign and GOP had a huge lead on the democrats in terms of campaign funding. What happened? Did Trump just siphon off the funds to his own businesses, or did they end up spending more earlier on?

EVERYONE siphoned off funds. When you hire thieves to run your 8-year-scam, it must be quite tempting yo see the big pile of cash and think, 'no one'll notice a few thousand goes missing...'
Add typical Trump Co. auditing, there's no telling where any went.

It went to "fundraising". In politics, "fundraising" is poli-speak for "graft". Something like between a third to half of the money went to "fundraising"! And Trump's supporters are undeterred by this. Heck, even the GOP isn't saying anything out loud.
