A day without stupid?

Isn't there some GOP hack somewhere in the White House who can write an explosive, tell-all book about how calm and competent Trump is as he's playing 3-D chess with the rest of the world while working with a staff of 12th Level Intellects to secure a new American golden age?

You know, just as a change?
There are, but Amazon only sells that as 'masturbatory aids' in the adult fantasy section.

What I don't understand about the shutdown, is that Trump seems to be using it as a kind of extortion to get his wall built. But the shutdown ONLY makes Trump look bad. After all, it's his job to avoid a shutdown. The shutdown is purely his failure. How isn't this like when sherif Bart i Blazing Saddles took himself hostage and threatened to blow his own brains out?

He doesn't seem to understand how stuff works.

The shutdown is McConnell's and Trump's doing. McConnell has pretty much escaped any blame at all. Trump is surviving on the fact that apparently 30% don't mind if the nation burns just as long as they think they are sticking it to the Democrats and minorities. When you look at the overall presidential approval ratings, they haven't budged much at all.

The Stupid Wheel stops at Wilbur Ross... now it is time for him to try.

U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said on Thursday that he doesn’t understand why some federal workers who have been furloughed or are working without pay during the ongoing partial government shutdown are having to turn to food banks and homeless shelters to feed themselves and their families.

“I know they are, and I don’t really quite understand why,” Ross said in an interview CNBC.

Ross, whose net worth in 2016 was estimated to be $2.9 billion, said those workers should seek loans because “the banks and the credit unions should be making credit available to them.”

“True, the people might have to pay a little bit of interest,” Ross added. “But the idea that it’s paycheck or zero is not a really valid idea.”
George HW Bush was mocked as being out of touch when he was amazed in a grocery store at the scanning machines.

Ross's statement seems so out of touch, makes wonder why he'd be making do with public service at all... seeing the proles have access to such loans and what not.

Since the shutdown, his approval has dropped by more than 6% and his disapproval rating has increased more than 7%. I would call that significant if not for the fact that Cheato could shoot 30% of those who approve of him in broad daylight and they'd thank him.

Another way to look at it is to exclude those thirty percent, and note that outside of that core, his approval has declined by more than 20% among "supporters" who are not part of that 30% since the shutdown. Apparently Cheato believes that if he can pull an "honest" 30% in 2020, Uncle Vlad will do the rest for him.

Is he fundamentally wrong about that, though? Any potential re-election strategy by Trump requires a strong turn out by that 30%. Whatever Step #2 he tries to come up with would be irrelevant unless he succeeds at that Step #1. He has bet pretty much the entirety of that step with holding out for the wall during this shutdown. While I'm sure that he thought the Dems would fold after a few days, he is now kind of stuck with it and Step #1 no longer exists without it. He either gets the wall funding or he spends two years as a lame duck before someone else runs as the GOP nominee in 2020.

I don't think so.
Absent the complications you cite below, that is...

If the shutdown starts nipping at that 30% he is real trouble. Unfortunately that provides all the incentive Dems will ever need, to ignore the plight of federal workers as well as the collateral damage the shutdown will inevitably wreak, in order to keep the "Trump-Death" card in play.

Trump's tweet today:
Howard Schultz doesn’t have the “guts” to run for President!
Scoffs the draft dodger who would run 'unarmed' into an active shooter situation, but won't stand in the rain to honor vets.
Watched him on @60Minutes last night and I agree with him that he is not the “smartest person.”
Says the guy who told the entire world he was going to cause the shutdown, and was surprised when the voters held him responsible.
Besides, America already has that!
The smartest person? You? The guy who hired Guliani.
I only hope that Starbucks is still paying me their rent in Trump Tower!

I would think Don the Con would really really love to have Schultz run as an independent, thereby seriously raising the odds of FFvC being able to get a second term.

"Let them get loans." is as close as it gets to "Let them eat cake."

So, just over a year ago:

Just yesterday ago:

In the beautiful Midwest, windchill temperatures are reaching minus 60 degrees, the coldest ever recorded. In coming days, expected to get even colder. People can’t last outside even for minutes. What the hell is going on with Global Waming? Please come back fast, we need you!

This is 'senile Uncle Bob' territory, where he has four goddamned jokes that he will instantly repeat as a response to certain stimuli.

Yes, the book that bursts into flames when he touches it... making a great "turn back"!

Sarah says, The President is not HUNG UP on a wall. He just wants better Border Security.

Today's twitler post:
If the committee of Republicans and Democrats now meeting on Border Security is not discussing or contemplating a Wall or Physical Barrier, they are Wasting their time!

Wow. Way for him to negotiate from a position of strength. It's like the French army in 1939 releasing a statement saying "If the German generals are not discussing or contemplating how to retreat from the Paris area and return to their own country, they are wasting their time!"

North Korea relationship is best it has ever been with U.S. No testing, getting remains, hostages returned. Decent chance of Denuclearization...

Yes, his appointed deep state intelligence team needs to go back to school.

Also, the nation that doesn't have nukes is a threat, but the nation that does have nukes isn't a threat.

I can't recall the last time that multiple US intelligence professionals not only contradicted the administration, but publicly all but called the President an idiot.
