A day without stupid?

President Trump said:
Now, China is paying us, right now, billions and billions of dollars of tariffs a month. Every month, billions of dollars. I love it. Personally, I love it. But they’re paying billions of dollars. And it’s hurting them; it’s not good for them.

Trump said this... today... he must have read somewhere that China doesn't pay a dime in tariffs... the American importers do... and then usually pass it on down the line to the American consumer. Tariffs might not be great for China, but it isn't because China is paying them.

It does get worse.
CNN Article said:
His remarks followed a moment of tension between Trump and Lighthizer over the use of the term "memorandum of understanding" to signify a trade agreement between the United States and China.

"I don't like MOUs because they don't mean anything ... I think you're better off just going into a document," Trump said on Friday to reporters. "I was never a fan of an MOU."

Lighthizer appeared to steer Trump away from his understanding of the use of term, describing it as a "contract," a legal term that has been historically used to refer to trade agreements.

But Trump still wasn't pleased, disagreeing with his US trade representative in front of reporters. "To me, the final contract is really the thing, Bob. And I think you mean that too -- is really the thing that means something."

To which, Lighthizer acquiesced, saying he would use the term "trade agreement" instead.

"I like that much better," Trump replied.

Why can't this brazen stupidity be impeachable?

This seems like impeachable stupidity. This is the guy the GOP are protecting.

He felt badly about it. He knew the case very well, but he knew it later. And you've got a lot of people, big country, a lot of people. And in those prisons and those camps you have a lot of people. And some really bad things happened to Otto, some really, really bad things. He tells me that he didn't know about it, and I will take him at his word.
There is so much wrong with this statement.

"And in those prisons and those camps you have a lot of people."

You don't say... continue about these prisons... and camps.

Of everything stupid this guy has said, isn't this the dumbest so far?

Warmbier's family has just released a statement critical of Bonespur's defense of Kim.

This is on the level of Chamberlain saying that Hitler is an honourable stand up guy.

Except that Chamberlain was trying to buy time for a nation that was whoafully unprepared for war. Trump's only trying to mask his own inadequacies.

I suspect that if he had the power, Trump would like to have some of those prisons and camps here, with lots of people in them who are not his kinds of people.

When you're famous, you can do anything you want to flags it seems.

Excellent (but long) commentary on the CPAC address by FFvC.

http://www.stonekettle.com/2019/03/trump-spoke-for-more-than-two-hours-at.html

The Conservative Political Action Conference.
It’s like Burning Man for Republicans, only instead of inclusion, self-expression, and cheerful nudity, there was conservative rage, xenophobia, and howling conspiracy.
Also, Donald Trump fucked a flag live on stage like some strange textile variation of a Tijuana donkey show.
No word yet on if Trump made the flag sign a nondisclosure agreement or if his lawyer had to pay the flag $140,000 to keep quiet.
And that's just the beginning. :)

Great post.

That's the message.

We must build a wall because immigrant woman are being raped on the way to America.

Women, from Central American countries, are being raped as they migrate north.

Thus, Trump’s reasoning goes, we should build a giant wall to keep them out.

...

There’s a certain strange irony in that Trump is attempting to rally support for his wall from the xenophobic right-wing fanatics of CPAC who not only hate immigrants but illegal immigrants in particular by playing on their supposed sympathy for the plight of illegal immigrant women. Moreover, irony wise, these people – supposedly horrified at the idea of rape visited upon young women and female children – are the very same conservatives who unequivocally and loudly denounced a woman who claimed to have been sexually assaulted by their choice for Supreme Court Justice.

I don't remember when I went from "Hee Hee... what a fucking idiot" to "Oh gawd... what did he say now?" in this thread.

I don't know, but I'm pretty sure it was before the inauguration.
I suppose it depends on what he has said. Trump has expanded on what is stupid.

You have his ignorant statements:
"No politician in history, and I say this with great surety, has been treated worse or more unfairly."

He said that to a graduating class. Whining about how unfair it was to be criticized. What a dumb ass!

You have his anti-Establishment statements:
"I will say this — I don’t see any reason why it would be. . . . I have great confidence in my intelligence people, but I will tell you that President Putin was extremely strong and powerful in his denial today."

Putting the CIA under the bus, while speaking side by side with Putin. Did he really say that?!

Then you have his unprecedented anti-Democracy statements:
"We have people in Congress right now that hate our country… When I see some of the statements being made, it's very very sad. And find out — how did they do in their country? Did they do well?… Some will say it's terrible he brought that up, but I don't mind."

Trump at CPAC. Umm... don't we typically hear the Dictator-To-Be make such statements before he side steps democracy and seizes power for a couple decades.

Trump's tweet today:
It was not a campaign contribution, and there were no violations of the campaign finance laws by me. Fake News!

It? No identifying what 'it' was.

I would assume this is his reaction to a (fake) news article about Cohen's testimony about paying off Stormy?

So, it used to be 'something that never happened.' Something that Trump AND Daniels denied.

Then it became something that never happened, but Daniels was paid off, anyway, because famous people do that to shut up accusers.

Now, apparently, it happened, but it wasn't a campaign violation. just a perfectly natural famous-guy response to a bid for attention.

I guess pretty soon it'll be someone he did have sex with, but the payoff was to protect the marriage, not the campaign, so even if the funding was a campaign finance violation, it wasn't an ILLEGAL violation of campaign financing.
