Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez can't afford to live in DC

It is amazing what google reveals. It is an old article but revealing:

Meet The Lawmakers Who Sleep, Shower, Work — All On Capitol Hill

... snip ....

The most prominent member of this "Couch Caucus"? Newly minted House Speaker Paul Ryan, who's been sleeping in his office for years.

The Wisconsin Republican told CNN's Dana Bash in a recent interview that he would keep doing it even if he is, now, second in line to the presidency.

... snip ...

I think she's more worried about where she'll sleep out of office hours.

... in her office. Like many do.

Why doesn't she just take an ad out in the local paper and stay at the house of whomever pays her the most for the night? It seems to me that being an actual prostitute would be the best training possible for a career in Congress, so she'd be able to hit the ground running once she's sworn in.

Sarah Palin mocks Ocasio-Cortez mistake despite own history of gaffes
On Monday, the self-described democratic socialist drew some attention of the negative sort when conservative critics pounced on a video in which she refers to the "three chambers of Congress" and the "three chambers of government," which she says are the "presidency, the Senate and the House."
Sarah Palin: "YIKES: Ocasio-Cortez Fumbles Basic Civics TWICE In 1 Statement"

SP has a long history of gaffes, and she won't even acknowledge them, let alone to joke about them: "Alexandria is almost as bad as I am". List of Sarah Palin Gaffes | Palin's Biggest Errors and Mistakes:
  1. Paul Revere Warned the British
  2. Sputnik Bankrupted the Soviet Union
  3. The Vice President Runs the Senate
  4. The Constitution is Based on The Bible
  5. The Founding Fathers Said the Pledge of Allegiance
  6. Kodiak Island is America's Largest Island
  7. Susan B. Anthony Opposed Abortion
  8. Democrats Moved "In God We Trust" on Coins
  9. The White House Has a Department of Law
  10. The First Amendment Defends Against Media Attacks
  11. New Hampshire is in the Northwest
  12. Afghanistan and the US are Neighbors
  13. Many VPs Had Never Met a Head of State Before Taking Office
AOC responded:
Maybe instead of Republicans drooling over every minute of footage of me in slow-mo, waiting to chop up word slips that I correct in real-tomd, they actually step up enough to make the argument they want to make:

that they don’t believe people deserve a right to healthcare.
Then,
Now that’s *TWO* fallen GOP Vice Pres candidates going after a freshman Congresswoman that’s not even sworn in yet.

Isn’t it a little early to be bringing out the big guns?

Especially when they look like the FWD:RE:FWD:WATCH THIS grandpa emails from the ‘08 election they lost
The other one is Joe Lieberman, Al Gore's VP candidate, and AOC considers him a Republican.

Then AOC tweeted: "How is Columbus Day a holiday but Election Day not?"

Daily Mail editor David Martosko responded in another tweet: "AOC hasn't even started the job yet and she's already angling for more vacation days."

AOC responded
While I would disagree with your complaint that Americans get too much vacation time (we work some of the longest hours of any dev country & have no Fed required paid leave),

I am willing to compromise by eliminating Columbus Day to give Election Day off.

See? I can be pliant.
DM: "One of the requirements of public service should be a sense of humor."

Ocasio-Cortez is what many people were hoping Trump would be, with none of the bad he turned out to be. She's an actual GENUINE person not corrupted by Washington, not programmed by it to the point of being a robot like Rubio or Hillary Clinton. She's a real genuine person who cares more about the country than her donors.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wins the rigged conservative shame game — by refusing to play | Salon.com -- "Woman wears clothes, becomes butt of conservative journalist’s snark. Of course it’s not really about a jacket"

But most recently,

She tweeted in response,
If I walked into Congress wearing a sack, they would laugh & take a picture of my backside.

If I walk in with my best sale-rack clothes, they laugh & take a picture of my backside.

Dark hates light - that’s why you tune it out.

Shine bright & keep it pushing.

Maybe she should smile more.

Pure class. And will make her a winner.

She has spunk.

I hate spunk.

It's informative of the regard folks here have for "crazy eyes" Cortez that to make her seem less crazy / stupid she's compared to Palin.

Cortez is far far far more level headed and informed than Palin was then tapped for VP. Palin attacking Cortez for being clueless is hilarious. Cortez also doesn't pretend to know what she hasn't yet learned. We don't have any and won't have any "What political books do you read" ; "Oh, you know, all of them" (as she can't name one). Cortez would either name something, say she doesn't read them, or just pass on the question.

I think she could be a real star in the making. She brings a "regular person" angle that few others can or have. Videos like this are a great thing for her to do. Almost like a peek behind what really happens in Washington for you and me. I hope she keeps doing it, and without ramping up production quality etc. Just doing it off the cuff. This could start a whole new movement connecting with the roots of her party, and getting away from the robotic image of a Hillary Clinton.
