Seven percent of people polled right after 2024 election are now claiming they never voted for Trump.

The Meriwether Farms owner was in the Trump administration.
Given its isolation to the Americas, I would hazard that if it could get to Eurasia, it already would have.Hey Toni, how long do you give it before NWS hits Eurasia?
NWS??Hey Toni, how long do you give it before NWS hits Eurasia?

Sorry: I’m old and slow.
My expectation is that the limiting factor has been import restrictions and inspections.Given its isolation to the Americas, I would hazard that if it could get to Eurasia, it already would have.Hey Toni, how long do you give it before NWS hits Eurasia?
I think you’re right: it is almost inevitable that it will make it across oceans. I have no idea re: time line. I don’t know much about shipping cycles.New world screw-worm.NWS??Hey Toni, how long do you give it before NWS hits Eurasia?

So while many countries will cease to accept imports of American beef and live cattle, some countries will not, and some farmers will get desperate trying to unload their infected cattle... or worse, until an American air traveler has an eruption of flies.
I will give it maybe 2 months before the administration starts burying reports of the spread of NWS.
The thing isolating it to the Americas was, ironically enough, the US and our persistent dedication to keep it from coming back here. Now that this persistence against infectious diseases is broken, I doubt the existing efforts will be enough to keep it from hopping the pond.
You seem to underestimate the exceptionalism of Trump.Given its isolation to the Americas, I would hazard that if it could get to Eurasia, it already would have.Hey Toni, how long do you give it before NWS hits Eurasia?
It has nothing to do with Trump. Biosecurity is the responsibility of the importer; Trump can (and apparently has - no surprise there) fuck this up for the USA, but nobody relies on exporters to get their biosecurity right. You seem to underestimate the exceptionalism of Trump.Given its isolation to the Americas, I would hazard that if it could get to Eurasia, it already would have.Hey Toni, how long do you give it before NWS hits Eurasia?![]()
Tell that to COVID. The problem is not the cattle, the problem is the humans and the criminals.Importers tend to be quite good at biosecurity (even when they are rubbish at most of the rest of governance), because it makes an excellent non-tarriff barrier against foreign suppliers undercutting local businesses.

Particularly since we don’t screen human travelers for non-symptomatic viral infections they may carry.Tell that to COVID. You say countries have good biosecurity, but I do not believe that can really stop a first world country's criminal elements in the way it can stop a third world country's such elements, nor can it really stop the people who own private jets.
It has everything to do with Trump. You are acting like the world responds normally to him. Any other person that has done what he has done would be in prison. He never would have been elected. He excretes unfortunate exceptionalism. So I disagree about how this shouldn't become a problem because natural law, because Trump is above natural law. If anybody is capable of doing the incapable that shouldn't even be tried, it is him. If Trump fucked something up so bad that the Sun rose in the west tomorrow, how many of us would really be shocked? Sure, it should be physically impossible, but this is Trump. It has nothing to do with Trump. You seem to underestimate the exceptionalism of Trump.Given its isolation to the Americas, I would hazard that if it could get to Eurasia, it already would have.Hey Toni, how long do you give it before NWS hits Eurasia?![]()
In my experience, they don't really screen wealthy white tourists, either.Virus spread much more readily across borders and continents compared with parasites.
