Are people already regretting their choice?

Bloody yanks. World starts and ends at your borders.
A lot of fucking Yanks agree with you, fyi. Why aren't you differentiating those "bloody yanks', with conservative yanks?

Fuck the Trump/MAGA yanks. They are about half. The other almost half are not so fucking evil and or stupid.

Many unfortunately couldn't get off their asses to vote against evil.
Does that mean we can call them stupid too?
About 50% would be lazy fucks who couldn't get off their asses to vote against evil
About 26% who voted for evil
About 24% who voted against evil

A clear majority (74%) then are stupid and/or lazy.

Bloody hell.

Lazy fucks might work.
On the contrary, the defining feature of the lazy fuck is his disinclination to work.
I think we agree that too many (majority of?) American voters are lazy, stupid and any other pejorative we might consider.
How many Strayans do you think are willing to vote if

1)They have a choice

2)It's on a fucking Tuesday

3)There is a major political party willing to do anything and everything to say your vote doesn't matter and you should just fuck off and stay home?

Also there there is so much gerrymandering Joh Bjelke-Petersen would crawl out of his grave and say ,"Hang on fellas - too much", but we'll get to that later.

Seriously, how many strayans do you think would vote in such a climate? And I really dislike you forcing me to defend "bloody yanks", but look at what you made me do mate.

Two.
I know I'm outside looking, but I beg to differ. Democrats don't give a flying fuck if you vote. Republicans are scared shitless if you do.
I'm a member of my local Dems and the local party does all kinds of thing to encourage people to vote so you have no idea how hard Dems work to get out the vote. Sadly, it doesn't always work but it looks like it may be a bit more successful this time. I spoke to a friend whose husband never votes. She told me she used to try hard to get him to vote, but then she said if he did vote he'd always vote Republican so maybe it's better than he doesn't vote. Then we both laughed. I know a few more people who never vote but would vote Republican if they did and I know one who would vote Democrat but doesn't because "Jesus is Lord" Fucking Christians are the worst. Most of the conservative ones vote for Republicans and some simply don't vote. I've yet to meet an atheist who doesn't vote and the ones I know personally never once voted for a Republican, so enough with your stereotypes about American voters. We are individuals, just like the citizens of other countries.

Oh, not true. If you're a minority of any kind, you're their fucking property. You owe them a vote, and they are super unhappy if you don't oblige. Shame, shame on you you naughty wicked child. Don't you know how bad the other guys are? But there's a difference between feeling obliged to vote and feeling like your vote actually matters. Despite having come to truly despise their Party and their self-serving, hypocritical rhetoric, I've nevertheless voted consistently Democratic in every election for the last twenty years, and what do I have to show for that loyalty? The nation is sliding inexorably into fascism, and I'm one of those evil Progressives who is blamed for every misfortune of the Party, derided as an unrealistic and unserious radical whose concerns are invalid and whose demands for accountability in governance are "the real threat", worse than the Trumpers. Whose activities they have completely and utterly failed to retard for as many decades, but we aren't supposed to ask why. I "already regret my choice" every single damned election, because it's not so much a choice as a hostage situation, and they know it. Either fill their coffers or lose democracy altogether. Great. Such freedom.

Republicans are the ones trying actively to prevent voting, within those same demographics. They do want suburban white conservatives to vote, though. Boy howdy do they love those guys.

Southernhybrid will no doubt be typing out an upset response about how much Democrats are better than Republicans (yes I know) and I need to stop demanding the moon, the next election is too important to risk by banging on about "politics" and "rights". Why, Democrats support all of those grand principles! In theory.

George Carlin was famously an atheist and non-voter. In my last job I worked with a guy who was an avid skeptic and atheist who never voted. Just a couple examples. You're probably right in general.

As far as atheists not voting Republican, my father is a life long hard atheist and a life long conservative Republican. There are many libertarians who are atheist and either right-leaning or hard right, many of whom would vote Republican before voting Democrat. Sorry, I know you mean generally speaking. Just sayin'.

ETA, don't know why my bolding won't bold... It always worked before.

To be fair, the Democrats feel this way about minorities, women, and the working class.

Let's be honest here. Said this in 2000, that W would be a bad guy to be in charge if something went wrong. They will get justices on SCOTUS that'll end Roe v Wade. SoHy gonna warn about the future? Seems kind of pointless. If people haven't given a fuck up to this point about being pragmatic since 2000, what else can be done? The naysayers were right with W, Romney, pod people version of McCain, and Trump. The only thing barely holding Trump back right now is the judicial system. Having 52 votes in the Senate helps keep that firewall in place. Heritage Foundation gets to replace Thomas and Alito, we ain't seeing normal with SCOTUS for 50 years. The Roberts Court is trying to get the US back to a pre-WWII regulatory mindset. We were right about that 25 years ago, we are right about it now.

You owe them a vote,
That is bullshitt mate. What you owe is a vote worthy before that time. Unlike in Australia you fuckers had a chance called a primary. You could chose people, you could be somebody productive. So fick off and be like Bil Maher or that tired Carville cunt and sit on your throne crying as the world hoes by.

I have never missed a primary vote. I doubt Bill Maher has, either.

Here's the thing. I'm for something like Medicare for All, but I don't think even one Republican in Congress would support it and the Dems can't pass it without some help from the other party. Plus, I've done some recent research on Bernie's unrealistic plan. He wants no premiums, and coverage for everything including dental, vision, long term care and regular health care. That could cost up to 30 to 40 trillion bucks over the next 10 years, according to what I've read, although some studies claim it will be far less than that. it's a nice idea but totally unrealistic, especially considering the current debt of the US government.

The Bernie plan is to have a 4% tax to pay for it as well as a wealth tax. But anyone who makes less than around 30K would not have to pay the 4% tax. Imo, that's an insane idea and I'll tell you why.

First of all Medicare pays doctors quite a bit less compared to private insurance, so knowing doctors as well as I do from working as a professional nurse for over 40 years, I'm pretty sure that many of them will order unnecessary tests and procedures so they can make more money. Some already do that now. Believe me! Plus, sadly a lot of doctors go into medicine partly for the money. If they had to depend on only Medicare, we might end up with a bigger shortage of doctors in primary care, compared to now. I prefer an NP to a doctor, but even their salaries might be lower under such a plan and they have to have at least an MS to practice and some have doctorate degrees in nursing.

Then there are patients like my sister and neighbor who run to a doctor for every tiny symptom, which again will increase the cost of Medicare. I imagine there are more like them.

If I were to develop a type of MfA, I'd have premiums based on income and some copays in certain instances, all affordable based on the person's income. The wealthiest would pay much higher premiums and the poor would pay no premiums and tiny copays in some instances. For example M'caid, at least when I was working had a 50 cent copay for medications.

Medicare is currently not free. In fact a couple with A, B, D and a supplement could be paying 1000 bucks a month or more, based on their ages. it's still having trouble getting enough funding, despite the FICA tax and the premiums.

I don't like the idea of prior approval because that really slows down care, although perhaps in certain instances it makes sense. I don't need prior approval to have surgery etc under my cheap ass Advantage Plan that only costs me about 200 a month and it covers medications as well as other care. It's much cheaper than traditional M'care and after several years, I'm satisfied with it. It will be available next. year as well.

Long term care is extremely expensive, so how the fuck is that supposed to be paid without any premiums at all?

Point is that it's very complicated and there must be more support and a better way to pay it, instead of Bernie's crazy plan. His heart is in the right place, but he's very unrealistic.

So, what other things can the Dems do to satisfy progressives without the support of the other party? I am progressive in spirit but I'm also a realist and I understand how difficult it will be to pass some things that are progressive.

Of course, the Dems are far from perfect, but we only have two parties and I don't see that changing in the near future, so vote for the one that at least tries to do the most for the people or that does the least amount of harm. I also wish we had term limits but that's another topic to discuss.

Everyone I know who votes also votes in the primaries, but the choices are still very limited. For one thing, very few people even want to run these days, especially considering all the death threats and verbal attacks they are getting. Your post makes no sense, so maybe you could clarify exactly what you were trying to say.

I even voted once in a Republican primary to vote against some evangelical cunt. We have open primaries in my state so we don't have to register with a party. I love that and wish all states had open primaries.

All you have done is merely confirm that the US system is asinine. There are far better systems available but the yanks will never consider anything that is not "Made in the USA".
Also there there is so much gerrymandering Joh Bjelke-Petersen would crawl out of his grave and say ,"Hang on fellas - too much", but we'll get to that later.
Joh would congratulate them and keep feeding his chooks.

Never denied we are fortunate to have a system that makes it as easy as possible to vote. And will not apologise for it.
If we could only develop a system to give us pollies worth voting for.
And I really dislike you forcing me to defend "bloody yanks", but look at what you made me do mate.
Tough toenails.
I am sorry you have gone native though. Time to leave.

Oh, I did that once. I was terrified of the growing alt-right movement even then, and felt that a vote for Romney and thus for some degree of normalcy was a better use of my April ballot than a shoe-in vote for Obama, who was running all but unopposed. Of course, I voted for Obama in the general! How I miss that man sometimes... the last person who the entire "Left" generally trusted, even through disagreements.

So what? look at all the deficit (credit) Rump is spending on vanity projects (including the war) that nobody needs.
We only need to worry about our ability to sell treasury bonds.

I even voted once in a Republican primary to vote against ...
Since 2020 I've been registered as a Repugnican so i could vote against incumbent Repugnants in the primarys.
