Are we now in full blown fascist totalitarianism?

Criminals or not, they are not automatically entitled to stay in the USA.
,.. but they're entitled to a free hotel in El Salvador, where they may enjoy cells “built to hold 80 or so inmates” where men are held for 23.5 hours a day and “the only furniture is tiered metal bunks, with no sheets, pillows or mattresses … an open toilet, a cement basin and plastic bucket for washing and a large jug for drinking water.”
What did these criminals suspects do to deserve such luxury accommodations, along with free food and airfare? And a "large jug" for drinking water, while the rest of us struggle with those little plastic bottles? Sheesh!
Perhaps Swiz is simply jealous; El Salvador's "tropical belt" climate might be even milder than Santa Monica's.
sending people to El Salvador to jail does not seem legit and is troublesome.
"Troublesome" to you? You poor thing.
I recall accounts from Germany... people found it "troublesome" when their neighbors suddenly disappeared.

Something even more concerning here...

With threats to remove judges and redistrict them so that the liberal judges no longer exist...with removal of inspectors general...with majority Republicans taking over fed govt and independent agencies...with threats at law firms who do not bend the knee...with improperly broadly invoking terrorism and wartime laws...with fed govt agents (ICE) in liberal cities...

what else do they have to do to transition from "First they came for the Venezuelans, ..." to "Then they came for me" OR what else has to happen to trigger it?

What is left?

Personally, I think a declaration of a domestic organization as terrorists would be the trigger and have a ripple effect. So, for example, antifa.

There's a protest group called Tesla Takedown showing up to Tesla dealerships to protest. This will probably be the first one designated a terrorist organization

The issue here is that Trump's violations of the law are so obvious, it doesn't matter the breed of the Judge, Reagan to Obama appointed judges are finding Trump in grave error of the law. So they can shuffle all they want, they need a lot more Cannons if they want Federal District judge approval.

There is still a lot left. But if we were on the road to hell, this is a stop along it.

We've kind of been here, WWI was not a great time for protesters rights. Exporting those people out of the country would be new. The issue at hand is will they stop letting people know? If ICE acts in secrecy, then who is or isn't deported to a prison?

Revisiting the immigration crackdown of eight years ago can help illuminate a lot of what is happening now—chiefly, how a deportation regime can be launched on a flimsy legal basis yet on an explosive scale, resulting in hundreds of men being accused of being gang members with little or no proof.

It all starts with tattoos—specifically, how the U.S. government is using them as evidence of criminality. It’s not the first time the government has condemned people for their ink—and it hasn’t worked well in the past, either.

Daniel Ramirez Medina, a DACA recipient legally in the United States, was detained in February 2017. When Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents came looking for his father, they swept him up, too. The ICE agents claimed he represented an “egregious public safety concern” because he was “gang-affiliated.” They based their case on a tattoo on his forearm that they said “proved” he was a gang member because it resembled a known gang tattoo. But as Slate reported, the tattoo was a nautical star with the words “La Paz—BCS,” referring to Medina’s birthplace, La Paz in Baja California Sur. Medina’s lawyers introduced evidence showing ICE had doctored his statement to make it appear as if he had confessed to being a gang member. The judge overseeing Medina’s case didn’t just rule against ICE; he accused the agency of lying.

...

Proof? What's that? We are in a post-proof era.

According to the Trump Admin lawyers:
filing 3/17 said:
Agency personnel carefully vetted each individual alien to ensure they were in
fact members of TdA. Officers and agents well versed in gang activity in general and TdA in
particular reviewed the information gathered on each alien, identifying TdA members based upon
the results of investigative techniques and information such as previous criminal convictions for
TdA-related activities, other court records indicating membership in TdA, surveillance, law
enforcement encounters, interviews with the TdA member, testimonies and statements from
victims of the TdA member, evidence that the alien had committed crimes in coordination with
known members of TdA, evidence that the alien had committed sophisticated financial
transactions with known members of TdA, computer indices checks, and admission of TdA
membership by the alien. ICE did not simply rely on social media posts, photographs of the alien
displaying gang-related hand gestures, or tattoos alone.
Their association with TdA is so backed up by the facts... we aren't providing any of that information to the court.

Thought this was interesting. There is already a court set up to remove alien terrorists. Why not use this court to remove the TdA people? At least there is some measure of due process with respectable judges overseeing it.

The United States Alien Terrorist Removal Court is a special court in the United States created in 1996 that has never conducted proceedings. It consists of five Article III judges, selected by the Chief Justice of the United States.[1] Its job is to determine whether aliens (non-citizens) should be deported from the United States on the grounds that they are terrorists.[2]

Just to be 100% clear, the 5th amendment right to due process either applies to everyone or it applies to no one. It is impossible for there to be something in between because if it is allowed for some and not for others, the determination itself on who it applies to would either require due process (meaning due process applies to everyone), or it would be determined arbitrarily by the government (which means it applies to no one).

The 5th amendment is very clear: "No person...", not citizen, not people here legally, but everyone.
Then it is high time we take down a lot of anti terrorist laws. Why aren't I seeing you and other Democrats campaigning for that?

Please stop. Right-wingers are terrible at comedy.

^^^ Proof. This guy makes money by being a comedian???
It is just ridiculous smears as well. Those of us in the pro-democracy movement did not support warantless wiretapping, gitmo, many aspects of the war on terror, etc. And democrats had to placate the moderates and the right of center in their base with some of this stuff, but they were far less offending than the reich wing when it came to protection and support for civil liberties, even during the war on terror era.

If Trump had been president during the war on terror after 9/11, you can be certain he would have declared all Muslim immigrant non-citizens as foreign enemies and invaders and had them all disappeared off to foreign prison sites without due process, and the MAGA reich wing would've been cheering it on. The Muslim citizens he would've had interned as well similar to the Japanese American WWII internment (but it would've been far more cruel).

+ In other words, lack of evidence is evidence of guilt!

ICE is our gestapo or SS. Look for their mission to expand in the coming months to going after anyone accused of aiding or abeding any non-citizen immigrant.

I agree Axulus. Keep on. I was a skeptic at first, and kept thinking people were being paranoid, or exaggerating. But I believe more and more that this is the real deal. In my small town hotels and restaurants are desperate for workers, ie cooks, bussers, dishwashers, and especially housekeepers and laundry workers. The Hispanic people who frequently take such jobs, especially housekeeping in hotels, and laundry, are not seeking those jobs because they are afraid of being swept up!
