Are we now in full blown fascist totalitarianism?

A Declaration of War?

Kristi Noem declaring(?) War on Los Angeles said:
... and the military will continue [to operate] in this city. We are not going away. We are staying here to liberate this city from the socialist and the burdensome leadership that this Governor and this Mayor have placed on this country ...

If an anti-American fascist used this language to describe a military take-over in some "banana" province , would this not be called an implicit declaration of war?
This comes from the first hit at YouTube for "Padilla arrest". Off-camera commotion (the arrest) begins just EXACTLY when I truncated the fetid war rhetoric from the puppy killer's mouth.

Silly goose… only Congress can declare war.

My local sheriff is saying some interesting things about what he wants his deputies to do on Saturday.
Sorry, but that statement requires a bit more context.
He said his deputies are going to kill people if they throw rocks and send them to the hospital and attack them with k9s if they so much as spit on a deputy. He is just salivating for violence. I don’t expect our gathering in my town will be anything but peaceful but Wayne Ivey sure seems that he is expecting and even wanting it. Rather than respect peaceful speech he is agitating for conflict.

Yes, it is.

And that is how the rhetoric and behaviors are going to trigger ___some___ people into acting out.

And as Admiral Ackbar said, "It's a trap!"

it's disgusting and even a few Republicans have spoken out against it
You mean it’s SO disgusting some Republicans have paid a little lip service.
Trump needs to be removed.
Yes. He certainly does need to be removed, but the cowardly Republicans in Congress are too scared to do it and the Dems don't have the power to do it. And yes, even the few Republicans who are speaking out aren't doing it in a very strong way.

Hegseth, Rubio, Noem have said some pretty shady stuff in six months. And it just continues to escalate.

Amazon has come under enormous illegal pressure.

this is INSANE. I work for a very large cloud services provider. We have a lot of government clients. Another side of our company sells books online (you have 100% heard of them.) Today, my boss got this email that one of our largest gov clients is going to CANCEL their contract if we don't remove these books that are critical of Trump. This is NUTS!! We have NOTHING to do with the book side of the business, and even if we did, this is CENSORSHIP!!! I can't believe this is happening. My boss is pulling his hair out over this. No one knows what to do.

I have 119 different fetishes; one of them is never logging in to X for access to its comments. So when I saw yet another link to X here today, I thought "What's the matter with Bluesky? I even have an 'account' there."

Surely BlueSky is a better venue to read true facts and worthwhile opinions -- WHY hadn't I even clicked there for months?? :confused2:

And as soon as I got to BlueSky I was presented with a link to a David Pakman YouTube, though I needed to search to find (at Reddit) copiable text.

As a BlueSky noobie, I don't know how to link to the BlueSky post. I could copy the URL, but suspect that URL is personalized for me.

If true it would be criminal extortion. But a quote on social media doesn't convince me. Of course the executive branch is so criminalized that it wouldn't surprise me if it turns out to be true.

Government contracts used to be handled by boring civil servants following the laws. Now all that is short circuited and Trump's hacks just rule.

Mrs M surmises he might croak during the Greatest Military Birthday Parade ever held in the honor of any American.
What a fucking dickweed.

That would be something to celebrate.

I was reading what Orwell said bout military parades. Fuck! All of this is so Orwellian.

Meanwhile, in Florida...

There will be people claiming they were defending themselves, but really weren't.

NYC Comptroller detained by ICE.
article said:
Democrat Brad Lander was there to observe immigration hearings, said Dora Pekec, his campaign spokesperson.

“While escorting a defendant out of immigration court at 26 Federal Plaza, Brad was taken by masked agents and detained by ICE,” she said in a statement, referring to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Clearly this was a political stunt by Lander. There really was no reason for him to be there. However, on the other side of the coin...
article said:
Department of Homeland Security spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin said Lander was arrested “for assaulting law enforcement and impeding a federal officer.”

“Our heroic ICE law enforcement officers face a 413% increase in assaults against them — it is wrong that politicians seeking higher office undermine law enforcement safety to get a viral moment,” McLaughlin said in a statement. “No one is above the law, and if you lay a hand on a law enforcement officer, you will face consequences.”
Heroes... for defending themselves against a politician in a suit that didn't visibly engage against them? Them being maybe half a dozen burly agents?

Was any of that necessary? It is like no one is acting like a mature adult anymore.

He's (Lander) actually been doing that for the last three weeks.

These are legal immigrants following the rules to stay in the US but are being targetted by ICE to fill quotas.

As far back as the 1990's I was saying "the power you give to your side today will be wielded by the other side tomorrow." The Libertarian Party has been saying that since the 1970's, but I was but a kid then.

Gee, what could have led to the US being in a fascist or semi-fascist state? One election? A trend that stretches back decades?

I think that you could argue that the Woodrow Wilson administration had fascist elements. Racism, censorship, his propaganda machine, suppression of free speech, protest and dissent. Draconian prosecutions for disagreeing with his actions.
