Arican-Americans will VOTE TRUMP!

... after decades of supporting Democratic Party by 90%+ there is still a great deal of violence, poverty etc. in the black communities in the US. He portrays himself as the "law and order" candidate, which would mean that he pledges to do something about these crime-ridden neighborhoods, many if not most of which happen to be predominately black.

A pretty stupid approach, given that blacks in those neighborhoods are generally more afraid of cops than of gangbangers. Sounds like cheeto-face thinks they want to see more blacks in jail. I don't believe that's the case. It's just his White base than wants that.

I highly doubt that Donald Trump is going to get a significant percentage of the Black vote. I think he's trying to make moderate White voters more comfortable.

You say that is stupid, but is there anything in the world stupider than not being afraid of the people who are actually killing most people in these neighborhoods and being afraid of the people working against the former people
? Dwyane Wade's cousin was not killed by police for example.

Violent criminals should be imprisoned regardless of their race. If blacks don't want to see violent criminals imprisoned just because they share skin color, then perhaps they deserve what they are getting.

With memes like that you should join Trump's campaign.

It's more like "be careful what you wish for, because you might get it". If these people, as Elixir claims, like gangbangers better then police, what do you think will happen to their neighborhoods with more gangbangers and fewer police?

That's not exactly what Elixir wrote, though. You changed the words around.

He wrote that they are more afraid of police (very low risk, especially if you are not a thug yourself) than of gangbangers (much higher risk). How logical is that?

Perhaps someone can explain it to you. Are you up for asking black people in those neighborhoods or do you want to armchair assume their logic and "risk" for them?

Or look like a thug. It's difficult to tell a thug from a law abiding Black citizen, if you don't have your Pocket Thug Life Recognition Field Guide with you.

For example, if a Thug doesn't smile, there's no way to tell if he has the distinctive gold grill. He might easily pass for a cafeteria manager or a dentist.

Yes. I can think of one thing that is stupider than that immediately: Being more afraid of terrorists than of mosquitos. But I don't see anyone running on the "war on mosquitos" platform. Go figure.
You really really don't get that those gangbangers are the sons, daughters, brothers and sisters of the residents of those communities? OF COURSE they're more afraid of the police.

Violent criminals should be imprisoned regardless of their race.

With novel ideas like that, you would definitely be a standout among republican political strategists. We all know that platitudes will get you fairly far in American politics; really tremendously great - I mean really tremendously great ones like that might even get you a whopping one percent of the black vote. But maybe you should broaden it to more of a "big tent" concept... like change it to "ALL BAD PEOPLE SHOULD BE IMPRISONED" (Yes, you do have to shout for max effectiveness.)

If blacks don't want to see violent criminals imprisoned ...

Who said they want that, except teh Donald (by implication)? I'm pretty sure they'd like to see a cop sent up the river once in a while too, when one kills their kid or their brother...

ETA: Another thing that is stupider than people being more afraid of police than of gangbangers: thinking at this stage that "Arican (sic)-Americans will VOTE TRUMP!

Blacks have lost trust in the system.

They want justice more than anybody.

But the US system is not about justice and never has been.

It is a system of one set of rules for the poor and another for the rich.

One door for the poor and another for the rich.

Massive government bailouts to rich bankers.

Prison for the poor.

What exactly is Trump suggesting?

He is going to do what to make the lives of black people safer?

Just more insanity as far as I can see.

I think he is continuing on his theme that blacks have nothing to lose by voting for him because after decades of supporting Democratic Party by 90%+ there is still a great deal of violence, poverty etc. in the black communities in the US.

Baked into this theme is the idea that for the last several decades Democrats have either done nothing to help these communities or are actually working against them. This is of course patently absurd. Why does the Democratic Party have such consistent support among the black community? Because of the two parties, the Democrats are the one that shows up. Democratic politicians come from the community, campaign in the community, and return to the community as elected leaders. Some come from outside the community, but campaign in the community and go into the community as elected leaders.

Republicans don't show their faces in the black community. Instead they stand outside of it and complain about all the crime and violence in places where they'll never drive through let alone campaign in. They'll hold fundraisers at the country club or the chamber of commerce or a nice house in a gated community and tell all the old white folks at the town hall that they'll do something about all the crime and the "thugs" but really it is all just pandering to the fears of people who (like the politicians themselves) wouldn't be caught dead in the neighborhood.

Now, have the Democrats solved all the problems? No, but they're right there on the ground trying. The Republicans (Trump included) don't offer any solutions at all.

Now you are not being fair. Many visited such neighborhoods to buy drugs in the 1980s and 90s.

If Trump really wanted the Black vote, he'd go all out and promise 40 acres and a mule.
37 million black people times 40 acres equals 61% of US land mass. There are also not nearly enough mules. About time we retire this tired old cliche.

And why do you keep capitalizing "black"? Would you capitalize "white" as well?
Wow. Just wow.

*looks around*

Well, this thread is one giant mess of stereotypes and nonsense.

I suppose I should be shocked or disgusted by Trump's tweet. I agree.

I'm really not, though. It's just like him to tweet something like that.

The GOP needs help, and it's not coming this election cycle.
