California Doing California Things

These whiny librarians need to just suck it up.

Is that supposed to be sarcasm?

Gee, its a mystery isn't it?

Well, you have in the past been very sensitive about being "accused" of saying anything beyond what you have literally said, so I thought it best to clarify.

So, it was intended as sarcasm. The next logical question is, who do you believe is taking the anti-librarian position that you are satirizing but not espousing?

As for the "people send "people" comment, just stop it. You know damn well what I'm talking about.
Not gonna stop it. There are PEOPLE in all those States who actively make decisions to send other people here and there, and IMHO they should be held to account.

Looking like it is probably Hilton and Becerra vying for the top spot in November, no surprise there. I'm deeply annoyed with Steyer for buying himself the so-called "progressive lane" and even more annoyed with progressives for half-falling for it and letting him split the lane, but what can you do? At least Becerra will keep the lights on, and do what he can to protect the state from Trump. Despite Tswizzle's delusions, our governor is almost always a moderate in practice whatever his policy, the state is too complicated for any one ideology to drive policy consistently and the governor is more of a diplomat than a ruler.

Fingers crossed that Hilton makes into the run off. Steyer is an extremist and Becerra is a clown. "protect California from Trump", that is all these clown democrats run on.

No doubt the corrupt California democrats will find a way to rig things in Becerra's favor.

In Los Angeles, Spencer Pratt looks to be getting a run off spot in the mayor race. Commie Ramen was nowhere, a useless piece of shit. Marxist incumbent Bass has a slim lead. I hope she get beat too. We are fed up with the city being an open air psychiatric ward.

If Becerra does win, I just hope Joe Biden will be the one to introduce him as our new Governor. We could use a little comedy in this state:

Steyer is not extreme, he’s extremely rich and extremely deluded about what he can accomplish. But he’s only extremely left for a billionaire, most of whom have become obligate trumpsuckers.
It will be interesting to see how he fits the field.

What exactly is the result of this California primary?
There will be 2 persons left standing.
What happens next? Is there then another vote to see who is the fairest in California?
And after that?

Correct. This was the primary phase for our statewide election, which will be conducted in November. In the primary, two final candidates are selected by simple popular vote, regardless of party. In the November election a much reduced list of candidates will be selected from, and we'll vote on any current ballot initiatives as well. Quite a few state offices are up for grab, though the governorship gets most of the press. Of national importance are several House seats. You may recall the controversial law we passed by ballot initiative last year, creating a purposefully unbalanced and non-representational electoral map to try and win five additional Democratic seats in the House.

If in this primary 2 (worthy?) candidates are selected then who are the others to be added to the reduced candidate list in Nov?

Do you vote for each state office separately? And the initiatives too? And the House seats as well? Need lots of stamina for all that.

I remember that initiative generated much heat and not too much light.

It's the top two for each office. There cannot be any new faces in the general election, sorting out the rabble is exactly what the primary is for. Hence why, unless God himself descends from the heavens before November, Xavier Becerra will almost certainly be our next governor, it's an A or B choice on that ballot and his challenger won't even come close to being a real challenge.

Correct, all offices are elected independently. It's not a parliamentary system, the parties do not form governments and most non-executive offices are strictly non-partisan. Even the governor and lieutenant governor, for instance are separate offices. separately voted for.

And yes, it will be an incredibly long ballot in November. this one was three pages long, and that's without the ballot initiatives. It took me quite a while to go through it, as I insist on at least reading the candidate statement, etc, for each potential officer.

I was not too happy about it, but what's done is done.

Sounds suspiciously like a rigged election. Why not just anoint Becerra when Newsome finshes and save a little bit of effort for the voters.

That might helps explain to someone like me why your voter turnout is so very poor.

It's not a rigged election, there's just a lot more Democratic than Republican voters in California, and far more "moderates" than "progressives" among the Democrats. Once its down to two, the governorship always goes to the same kind of person, more or less. That's just math.

This is very accurate.

Threre's plenty of time for Becerra to fuck things up between now and November. Several former members of his staff are going to jail for fraud. He's apparently not involved, but there's guilt by association hanging over him. Of course, voter turnout is also a big factor (and usually weak with Democrats) and Democrats are not really thrilled with him.

Really? You think Steve Hilton has a chance? You don't have to list out Becerra's faults. Believe me, I know. But I do not think they mean that a professional clown, traitor to two nations, is going to win the November election instead. Becerra basically turned to the camera, said "I work for Chevron, not you" and winked, and his voter support went up. Moderates are dumb as shit, but they are loyal to the party leadership in their way.

If you don't already listen, the first ten minutes or so of Hilton's latest podcast are a 100% accurate skewering of Xavier Beverra, he has the man to a T. The perfect Biden Democrat.

Well, for Los Angeles the fix is in. Spencer Pratt has been overtaken by Nithya Raman. So Los Angeles has to choose between two democrat lunatics for Mayor. I expect that Bass will win handily. The democrat party machine did not want a loser like Bass running against a popular and viable option who actually stood a chance of winning. No, no, no, better to run against Raman where victory is certain.

Pratt never had a chance of winning. Do you think Raman's voters would have voted for Pratt? :hysterical:

Trump supporters are going to be absolutely insufferable during the midterms.
