Caretaker for autistic man, unarmed, lying on ground with his hands up, still shot by Miami police

The only victim in this accident is the integrity of all police officers, because people get riled up and jump the gun whenever an African American scrapes it's knee.

Black people are no exception, and by the nature of their stale equality arguments, they should be glad they're being murdered by cops.

I'm in no way racist. I'm a white heterosexual male, which societally makes me an evil and unacceptable person by default, but I'm not racist.

Letting words speak for themselves.
If I thought they were being serious, I'd care, but that is about as fishing as it gets.

And this is why you don't leave witnesses

"I’m like this right here," Kinsey recounted to WSVN, with his arms in the air. "And when he shot me, it was so surprising. I thought it was a mosquito bite. And when it hit me, I had my hands in the air. And I’m thinking, ‘I just got shot!’ And I’m saying, ‘Sir, why did you shoot me?’ And his words to me were, ‘I don’t know.’"

I would actually be surprised if this officer did not get prosecuted.

"I think I'm going to create ZiprHead's Rule: If it's a story from Florida, it's going to be stupid."

How in the world did I miss it?

Both of these things were made clear to the officers

Both of those things were made clear to the microphone on the recording device. We don't know what the cop heard. To the cop, two things were clear. The men acting insane on the ground. Yelling and banging their heads with what could have looked like a gun. Poor cop deserves a medal for bravery if you ask me.

You were doing pretty good but that last sentence gave you away. Never overreach!

My black friend(s) tell me I'm not racist.
As a number of posters here routinely prove, black people's views on whose a racist cannot be trusted.

My black friend(s) also told me those people were racist.

How long until #BLM is blamed for this guy's shooting for #BLM creating an atmosphere of officers fearing for their lives?

As an aside it must feel weird for these officers to live under the same fear they've been instilling in our communities for years now.

As a general rule, if somebody feels the need to point out that they're not a racist, it's probably because they're a racist.

My black friend(s) tell me I'm not racist.
The most racist man I ever served with had an interracial marriage.
I suspect it was his way to dominate one of the oppressors.

Just a question.
Are cops in US ever tested for drugs or alcohol, immediately after they shoot someone? Or at any time at all?

Already saw it on Facebook. User said that police fear of ambush caused by BLM was the cause of this.

Can't believe it hasn't been posted here yet.

The police and the caretaker were conversing. The police heard him perfectly fine. And what the fuck with pluralizing "The men acting insane"

I knew there would be at least a few of you STILL defending the actions of a cop shooting an unarmed black man, but WOW I did not expect anyone to stoop this low.

No Warpoet I'm not trolling. What I said wouldn't sound dumb in court would it? I can't imagine how scared that cop was. Has anyone asked about his shock? He may be scarred for life. All of the attention is going to the victim of the accident, and he is lapping it up.

Gun goes off. Leg gets nicked. Only problem I see in this situation is the irresponsible use of a camera, and "caretaking" irresponsibility.

By the way, the word "caretaker" can mean "I get paid minimum wage to smoke rock and babysit an autistic person". I'm not 100% on his official title, but if it is something like "direct care staff", he wasn't taking care of that autistic man. That isn't a hard job to get. I did it when I was 21, and I smoked grass right in front of a severely autistic man named Buzzy for months. That is probably what the victim of this accident was doing. We aren't clear on what drugs he was using, but we know he was getting paid to let him wander in the facility. Let him wander was exactly what he did, too. I do see some negligence and I hope the family of the autistic man can forgive his quote caretaker.

And here's the obligatory denigrating of the victim. But frankly, your comments are SO over the top that I think you are just doing a piss-poor POE

Generally no, but it's a patchwork of rules and I'd suspect most unions would fight against it. St. Louis for example just rolled out a policy for post-shooting tox screens this year.

They're usually required in car crashes, but oftentimes other officers will spirit the offending party away for their 'cool-down' period before they have to submit to questioning.

Here, he's defending cops, elsewhere he's criticizing people that just sheeple the government when it charges for water and sewage.
Certainly, both positions cannot be sincere...

That's the easy one. Next is when they call him a "thug" because of a picture of him making a hand gesture, or some previous run-in with police,or quoting a song on Twitter.

After that, it's "It's Obama's fault!" followed by "What about violence in Chicago!?" Those two won't be around much longer, so they've got to use them while they can.

You'd be surprised.
