If temperatures continue to rise despite major ocean patterns that'd generally trend the global temp down, we know we are moving into the next stage of change.article said:Last month was the world's warmest January on record raising further questions about the pace of climate change, scientists say.
January 2025 had been expected to be slightly cooler than January 2024 because of a shift away from a natural weather pattern in the Pacific known as El Niño.
But instead, last month broke the January 2024 record by nearly 0.1C, according to the European Copernicus climate service.
Do you not understand, he's saying that we have already overshot that point. But all you seem to care about is tax. Reality will be even more expensive but it won't carry the dreaded label "tax".Climate change target of 2C is ‘dead’, says renowned climatescientistactivist James Hansen
The pace of global heating has been significantly underestimated, according to renowned climate scientist Prof James Hansen, who said the international 2C target is “dead”. A new analysis by Hansen and colleagues concludes that both the impact of recent cuts in sun-blocking shipping pollution, which has raised temperatures, and the sensitivity of the climate to increasing fossil fuels emissions are greater than thought. The group’s results are at the high end of estimates from mainstream climate science but cannot be ruled out, independent experts said. If correct, they mean even worse extreme weather will come sooner and there is a greater risk of passing global tipping points, such as the collapse of the critical Atlantic ocean currents.

The solution is easy, more tax.
S’okay, if any pain is visited upon Swiz due to climate change, his ingroup has provided a ready list of people who have long warned about climate change, that he can blame for not enabling him to escape such pain.Do you not understand, he's saying that we have already overshot that point. The Trump administration has placed on leave nearly 200 employees who work on environmental justice programs at the Environmental Protection Agency, and is pursuing staff reductions in similar programs at the Justice Department. The moves are in line with President Donald Trump's broader orders to remove U.S. government support for diversity, equity and inclusion practices within the federal government, as well as to weaken Biden-era climate regulation. The EPA notified 168 employees working for the agency's Office of Environmental Justice and External Civil Rights - a division tasked with integrating equity and civil rights into environmental policymaking - on leave, the EPA confirmed. "One hundred sixty-eight staffers were placed on administrative leave as their function did not relate to the agency’s statutory duties or grant work," an EPA spokesperson said in a statement.
Yeah, last Saturday it was very unseasonal here, also. I was out hiking and if it hadn't been windy I would have worn as little as possible. So, it was lovely and in the 70s so far all week here near central Ga, only about 17 to 22 degrees above normal. Last month we had a few very cold days, so perhaps Tom Friedman was right when he referred to climate change, aka known by at least one person as the rapture like cult, as "Global Weirding".
It doesn't mater that 2023 was the hottest year on record, until 2024 which was the hottest year on record. Maybe it will cool down in 2025, but here in Georgia, it looks like winter ended in the beginning of February, so maybe not.![]()
As little as possible or as little as practical? Do you often hike naked?Yeah, last Saturday it was very unseasonal here, also. I was out hiking and if it hadn't been windy I would have worn as little as possible.
And how do you propose to protect yourself from the sun if naked? Sunscreen is not going to stay put where your straps are. Thus naked generally isn't possible. I meant very short running shorts and a top that's just enough to provide adequate sun protection. As little as possible or as little as practical? Of course it is possible. It’s just not practical for the reasons you state. That was the humorous quip I was going for but I guess it fell flat. And how do you propose to protect yourself from the sun if naked? Sunscreen is not going to stay put where your straps are. Ok, I meant "possible" as in a reasonable course of action, not as in a theoretically possible course of action.Of course it is possible. It’s just not practical for the reasons you state. Yeah it’s going to be here tomorrow.Around here we are having near record cold.
The vast majority of governments are likely to miss a looming deadline to file vital plans that will determine whether or not the world has a chance of avoiding the worst ravages of climate breakdown. Despite the urgency of the crisis, the UN is relatively relaxed at the prospect of the missed date. Officials are urging countries instead to take time to work harder on their targets to cut greenhouse gas emissions and divest from fossil fuels.
For two days and two nights, Ronalyn Carbonel and her four children clung to the roof of their home as a huge storm raged around them. With the wind battering her village of Rizal, about 10 miles east of Manila in the Philippines. Carbonel was speaking to the Guardian as Greenpeace activists and youth leaders from the Philippines protested outside the oil firm Shell’s headquarters in London on Wednesday demanding “accountability from major polluters and justice for all the loss and damage they have caused”. Bon Gibalay, a youth leader from Bohol in the Philippines, who was part of the protest, said: “For far too long communities like mine.

No mention of how these brave climate warriors got from the Philippines to London but I suspect that "fossil fuels" played a part in their journey.
What does that have to do with the overall situation we are in?
