Cultural appropriation mythicists start to eat their own

"The fascist silencing"?

You mean people voluntarily changing something?

Get real.

Oh look, the dirty dozen people who care about cultural appropriation are at it again.

But unfortunately, the folks at Disney seemed to miss the memo when it came to understanding the difference between celebrating diversity and cultural appropriation. That was evidenced by news that broke over the weekend about the costume of the movie’s character, Maui, being sold online through the Walt Disney Store, and how the costume is making a whole lot of people feel uncomfortable with the way that it basically encourages people to “wear” the skin of a given ethnicity and culture.

Fortunately, the Twitterverse was able to explain exactly why, to put it simply, “cultures aren’t costumes.”

If no one cares about this except a dozen people, why do we keep getting these articles written by people who a) seem to think a lot of people are griping and b) seem to think the gripes are justified.

It's a mystery.

The larger mystery is why anyone still uses Yahoo!

It's a good site to keep up on the things no one is talking about.

You're just being sexist because the CEO of Yahoo! is a woman.

OMG. I just went to Yahoo.com and found out that it still existed. That was a surprising turn of events which I didn't expect.

Then, just for the sake of the retro experience, I also decided to check out AltaVista. It turns out that that one also takes you to yahoo.com. So, not only is Yahoo still in business, but it's doing good enough business that it was able to able to buy at least one defunct domain name at a garage sale.

It's a strange world we live in.

Oh, damn! You caught me. I guess I will have to turn in my Regressive Leftist SJW card in now.

Where can I get an Alt Right SJW card? I am assuming at the same place you got yours...

I'll back you up here, buddy, pal, friend. Yahoo! is a good site because it is middle of the road. It's difficult these days to get a news source that isn't bias. What Yahoo! does is pull news from sites all over the spectrum so you're not left in an echo chamber.

Wow, didn't realize that was too close to home for ya. (And that you can't take a joke.)

I just used it recently because some kind of adware made a plug in in chrome to set it to my homepage.

Hmm, I reply to your joke with a joke of my own, and that makes you think that I can't take a joke? Interesting.

I dunno I always assumed "KeepTalking" was meant to be ironic.

That's what happens when you make assumptions, rather than taking a clue from my avatar.

Hint: Pink Floyd has a popular song with the title "Keep Talking".

That can happen when you install/update unrelated software. For example, if you update Java on your PC, and don't uncheck a specific box during the process, the Yahoo! toolbar gets installed with it, and Yahoo! gets set as your homepage. It's what they have to do because they are such a popular and useful website.

I thought it was along the lines of

Just more evidence that what you think rarely comports with reality.

Good point re Yahoo, KT :D

As to the topic, I tend to be on the side of FTF is "cultural appropriation" and why is it a bad thing in most cases, but I have to say - that costume is creepy. Wearing tattooed "skin" as a costume? Yuck.

See this is exactly why "keep talking" is so ironic. No one would ever say that.

I said it, and I think most people who frequent this forum would agree with it.

So, once again, your assumptions and thinking appear to be reality challenged.
