Alcohol is by far the most widely used substance in the United States.

Wut? I’ll put water up against it any day of the week.
I hate that use of the word “substance”. It is not a synonym for intoxicant or drug.

For some reason this made me think of that Minnesota numpty, Michele Bachmann, standing up in Congress and braying why manmade climate change made no sense: "Mr. Speaker, carbon dioxide is a natural substance!!" At the time, I wanted her to prove her point by wrapping her head in a plastic garment bag for 5 minutes. (She's now a dean at Regent University. I still think 5 minutes in a garment bag would clear up some of her brain fog.)

We need the death penalty for anyone found in possession of any substance.

That would fix the drug problem, and indeed, every other political problem, quick smart.
