I did not see the debate last night. I am seeing some coverage of it today.

Any particular content you found very noteworthy?

Who would you say won and why?

yeah the satellite signal kept dropping so I only saw bits and portions of the show, most of the time was spent cycling the power on the receiver.
i'd say hilllary won because said said something that made me smile a bit and hernia senders didn't say anything that great or humorous and the other republicans on the panel didn't catch my attention at all.

I though Sanders, Clinton and O'Mally all did well, but think Sanders won. Jim Webb was an ass. And poor Lincoln Chaffee. Nice guy but....... Anyway, I did love the "no one gives a damn about your emails...." comment. I found myself laughing and clapping. That never happens!

How often did Hillary have to remind us that she was a woman? "In what way will your administration be different from Obama's" - "Well, Anderson, I have a vagina and he doesn't". Perhaps if she looked like Sarah Palin she would not be afraid we forgot.
O'Malley called everybody who disagrees with his position of support for illegal aliens "racists" and "xenophobes".
Nobody really stood up to #BLM during that question.

Overall, a pretty boring debate.

Loved several of O'Malley's comments and how vocal he was about environmental issues.

Overall, Sanders did predictably great except on the issue of gun-control. He didn't seem prepared on that.

Clinton was polished and strong, and she was the only one (that I recall) who brought up Planned Parenthood and women's reproductive freedom. She blew it with the 'first woman president' bit though. Not a good reason to elect her.

Webb sounds like an elephant in donkey's clothing. I don't think there was a single thing he said that I agreed with, and his answer to who is his favorite political enemy was downright creepy.

Oh, and in case we didn't already know it, Huckabee is a major bigot

Bernie's email comment made me bust out laughing and Bernie had the take away line of the evening 'Congress Doesn't Regulate Wall Street. Wall Street Regulates Congress.'

Loved several of O'Malley's comments and how vocal he was about environmental issues.

One can be for environment without opposing sensible projects and denigrating "all of the above" approach. Hillary's flip-flopping and pandering on Keystone XL was very disappointing. So much for her being a moderate. The only people an opposition to KXL really benefits are the Venezuelan boligarchs (because their oil sands directly compete with Canadian oil sands) and rail companies that are moving Canadian oil sands instead of the pipeline.

I think his position is very sensible - why should gun manufacturers be liable for misuse of their product - and will play much better in the general election as well.

I actually liked a lot of his points but his performance was poor just like Chafee. Pity really. As far as his response being "creepy", how was that creepy?

Because he made a slightly non-PC joke about North Koreans eating dogs? A similar joke was made over 30 years on on the British sitcom "Only Fools and Horses" and countless other times in between. Are they all "major bigots" as well? It's more like political correctness run amok.

I never watch the so-called debates live, the gems are usually buried in the manure. The left/right press will pick them out, provide clips, and expound on their "true" meaning.

But I made an exception and did subject myself to a brief viewing. Egads, what a miscarriage. It was Queen Hillary, Foghorn Leghorn Sanders, and some stiffs - Jim Webb was particularly disappointing, it amazed me that this guy ever got elected to the Senate (or why the hell he thought he was a Democrat).

Among the more sane, Hillary won if only because she was cogent and professional. Bernie was "the old white guy" foghorn, a throwback to old fashioned class based leftism. All seemed to be avoiding stepping on the royal toes, Bernie throwing her a lifeline on the emails.

Interestingly, many Democrats don't see Bernie as the loser. After debate polling among Democrats suggested Bernie resonated...which may suggest how far the Democrats have moved to the left.

Go...Bernie...Go.

He came across like a petulant child. Very GOPish. And seemed obsessed over China. Sorry but I don't believe hacker threats trumps climate change for things we should be concerned about. And sorry, but I did my research on the non email issue and frankly don't want to hear anymore about it or Benghazi.

Based on his other positions, I was surprised that Sanders was not calling for gun control. He wants guns to be freely available? His only qualm is that manufacturers of guns shouldn't be sued if they are used in crime?

Personally, I am glad I do not live in a country where everybody has guns or where you can expect somebody to be carrying one in any random location on the street. American gun culture needs to be seriously reigned in. I would even say it contributes to all those school shootings and cop's shootings you seem to always have.

If you listen to the mainstream press and anti-gun hysterics you might think as you do. I've lived in Oklahoma, California, Texas, Oregon, and traveled many more states. Perhaps once in my 64 years of life have I seen open carry by a civilian (and once concealed carry in an acquaintance purse). In a nation of 320 million people the chances of you encountering a gun waver is very small - well, at least if you don't live in some ghetto or engage in the drug business.

No normal or typical person worries about negligible chance event. BTW - there are 100,000 schools in the US, the chances of anyone being present at a school shooting is probably on the order of being struck by lightening.

The outstanding moment for me was this morning - CNN declares Hillary "The Winner", while their own internet poll shows Bernie winning over Hillary 81% to 13%. I guess CNN has made up their mind that Hillary is going to be It. They brush off the internet poll, saying "Bernie's base are all on the internet". So the other candidates' supporters are all "unconnected"? Sheesh...

Ya, but if Americans got struck by lightning ten times more often than people in other first world countries then it might be time to consider not wearing those metal spikes on your head so much during thunderstorms. No matter what arguments one comes up with about how they protect you during these storms or how low a percentage of the spike wearers actually end up getting struck by lightning, wearing a metal spike on your head during a thunderstorm puts you in much greater danger and it's a stupid thing to do.

It's the exact same with guns. You all want them for protection, but they actually put you and everyone around you in a hell of a lot more danger. They're stupid things to have.
